Hill Climbing and Physiological Changes

Hi all,

I took some readings on a Tanita (BIA) scale 4 weeks ago; and again the other

day. The changes in this time period show a decrease in body fat of 2 kg and an

increase in lean body muscle of 3kg.

My activity is hill climbing which I have been doing for more than 6 months

now. I sprint for 8 seconds and then jog back down and repeat. I have been

increasing my time in this last 4 weeks from 20 minutes to 35 minutes about 3

times a week. I also add another 10 minutes; after 5 minutes rest; of running

sideways and backwards. I am working at 80-85% of my max heart rate.

My goal is fat loss. I would also like to get my overall weight down below 80

kg. It is about 86kg at the moment. My diet is about 2000 - 2500 cal a day. My

basal metabolic rate is 1900 cal.

A few questions. Should I cycle these running sessions having harder and

easier training days (for fat loss)?

Should I run at a lower heart rate?

Would you expect that I would have lost more fat than 2 kg in 4 weeks?

Why did I add so much muscle?

Thanks for any responses
