Guest guest
In my last post I said I hadn't used the micro for anything but I need to restate that. It occured to me that last week I used it to make my yogurt.... not turning it on, but used it because it has the exact temp inside all the time that NT calls for for making yogurt. 95 - 98 degrees constant. Now, mind you I've made yog many times and it is always the same; IU use raw cow or goats milk and a starter of Stoneyfield Farms organic plain Yogurt. It turns out pretty much is just like the SFF only a bit thinner unless I add xantham gum to it. (My kids like it thicker). I'd kept it warm all sorts of ways -- using a cooler with a light bulb, s heating pad, putting it in the oven (that didn't work as I have electric and even putting it in my laundry room where it is 95 degree winter and summer with all the laundry two dirty little boys can make! *UGH!* BUT THIS TIME I USED THE UNUSED MICROWAVE to keep it warm!!!! and what I got is the weirdest, oddest, strangest yogurt I've ever made or seen. I'll try to describe it. It tastes the same, it looks the same UNTIL you try to spoon it out or stir it. You all know the usual texture and consistency of yogurt, right? This is gloopey, gloppy and sticks together like glue. Dr Seuss would be so proud of me!! It is hard to " break " a spoonful out and yet it flows perfectly and smoothly....sadly though it is like liquid plastic. I swear that the microwave was not turned on in the 8 hours I let it " yog " . Could it be the errant micro zapping nuclear ions on the micro that have mussed my yog!? Any thoughts, comments???? wren
