Guest guest
I wanted to write and thank all of you who gave me names of doctors in Lubbock who would diagnose Asperger Syndrome. There wasn't anyone in the Amarillo area that would diagnose, at least not until yesterday. We took my daughter to see her Psychologist and he told us how much she had progressed since she had started the meds for ADHD. He proceeded to tell me that one of the reasons for lack of social skills was the ADHD, and that she had never been able to concentrate on learning these skills, so that was why she had the problem. I told him that was fine, but I still felt she had the AS, and that the ADHD was more a symptom of that, rather than the other way around. I told him I had found some doctors in Lubbock, and I was considering taking her there to see if they would diagnose. He took a very deep breath, and then asked what I wanted from him. I told him that I want him to give me a paper stating she had the AS, so I could give it to her other doctors and therapists, so she would receive the right help. He told me he would have it typed, and sent out by the end of the day. Then he asked me if I would object to having a complete neuro/psych workup done on her. Of course, I had no objection; in fact that was going to be the next thing I asked for. I want to thank you all again for the help in finding the doctors in Lubbock. If I hadn't had that I wouldn't have been able to get him to diagnose her. Carol
