Good Morning All,

Yesterday was my 3 week post op date. Am a little down this

morning. Does anyone have any good receipies they could share? I

look in the mirror and dont see any real difference since I came

home. Am I expecting to much to soon? Still dont have any energy or

desire to do anything. Still havent driven and afraid to. Will

these feelings and emotions go away in time? Please remind me once

again why I am not supposed to eat bread? I eat crackers and

everything is fine. Am I rushing the food issue to soon? Cottage

cheese doesnt effect me. All I have been eating is cottage cheese,

eggs and some chicken. Having trouble getting in all liquid. The

protein drinks I bought before surgery, make me sick to my stomach

just thinking about them, lol.

Read each and every message and have come to love you all. The

wisdom, love and support within this group is awsome. Wish I could

give each and every one of you a hug in person. Someday hope to meet

some of you.

Hugs to all

DS 1/25/05

Lost 15 lbs first week. (dont have scale, so dont know if I have lost

any more.) Next Dr. appt is 3/07.

, I am six weeks post-op and boy do I know where you are

coming from. I have a very hard time getting all my protein in, but

it has gotten a little easier. I just had my six-weeks appt with Dr.

K. yesterday and he said verything was going smooth just keep doing

what I am doing and add more elements of food slowly to my diet. I

have lost 33lbs. The cottage cheese is also what I ate. Now string

cheese (advice from Jo) is very handy and good. My problem is I am

hardly ever hungary. Jo also recommended a quiche, which I made with

ham, cheese and onion and that was very satisfying.

One morning you will wake up and say " WOW, was I ever feeling

poorly? " It just happens..lol bread is a killer for me in the

gas department if it is white, in fact white anything kills

me..taco bell beans are good,pudding,anything soft,and take

one new food separate to see if you can take it.

You are doing great...One day at a time is what it takes..

God bless,

pat

Ok I'll try this again.....I lost the last response to this so I'm

typing it over....here goes. I had my surgery 3 years ago, and had a

little rough, had to re hospitalized for dehydration, and had lots of

depression. I'm a bit of a meatal case as it is lol,so the ds just

kicked it up a couple of notches. Depression after surgery is

perfectly normal , even if it is our choice to undergo it. So look to

family and friends for lots of support and encouragement, and of

course your internet family. We here are probably the best ones, to

go to, cause we all are in different stages of this journey. Don't be

afraid to go to your doc and ask for an anti-depressant, to help

smoothe out the rough spots. I didn't feel well at all til around the

4th month, then the black cloud lifted. As far as protien it is not

as important as the water in the 1st couple of months, you probably

have enough extra cushion, so that you won't malnourish right off the

bat. Also I still have a hard time realizing I've lost all this

weight. I still have to ask my family.... Do I look fat and I'll see

someone, say at the store and ask if I'm as big as her? Is she

smaller or bigger than me? Can you tell I've lost weight? But like I

said before I'm a bit of a basket case anyways, but it's very hard

for that mental picture to change in your head. It sounds like you're

doing all the right things. My unprofessional advice to you

is....take one day a time....drink plenty of water, don't forget your

vitamins, especially the calcium, exercise even if just walking, take

nice deep breaths, when life gets you down, just say to yourself "

This too shall pass " and it will. Before you know it you'll be

posting your 1 year anniversary post. Take care.....Annie ; )

You are doing great. It has only been 3 weeks so hang in there. The pounds

will keep coming off and you will notice a difference. When you are able to eat

and drink a fair amount, and when the weight keeps coming off and you can enjoy

the foods you once enjoyed you will come to realize it was so more than worth

it. I am 7 months post op and down almost 80 pounds from 253. I weigh 173 and

I am almost in a size 12. Life is good. I can eat almost everything except for

sugar foods which cause me diarhea which is okay with me because I don't crave

it and because my sugar levels are still coming down (I had diabetes quite

seriously). In just a short time you will start feeling really good about your

decision to have this surgery. Keep us posted.

Yes at 3 weeks out you are expecting too much...somewhere between 4

and 12 weeks the light switch will flip and you will feel better.

Everyone is a little different...Just keep doing what you can...and

sip sip sip all the time on your liquids. It is very normal not to

get it all in at first. Eventually you will, be patient, yeah I knwo

it is hard ..but we all have done it ! Hang in there it will get

better.
