Guest guest
Is it possible to do test to find out such deficiencies? What are foods rich in magnesium? Is there difference between magnesium hydrochloride and, say , magnesium citrate or mag oxide? [possible spam] Re: Neurological problems Hi AZ, More often than not these and other problems are caused by a lack of magnesium (hydrochloride) and calcium deficiency. Nerve disorder and backpain, sometimes for years, are alleviated by supplementing the diet with same. Guest guest
It is difficult to get 100% RDA magnesium with foods. Fennel and pumpkin seeds are two of the best sources. Spinach and other greens are decent sources. Magnesium citrate is a well absorbed form and one of the best for removing mineral deposits from the body like kidney stones. I would think that magnesium hydrochloride works well in this respect, too, but have never used it. Magnesium oxide is okay, and cheap, but not well absorbed and is probably more laxative than the other two. I agree about the back problems - before I started studying alternative health I frequently had back problems bad enough where I was out of work up to three days at a time in bed, literally crawling out only to go to the bathroom. I started taking magnesium on a regular basis and have not had a back spasm since and it's been almost a decade. I also never had liver pain again - before taking magnesium I could not sleep on my left side since I would get pain in my liver, I guess from the stones rolling down to the small part of the liver. I would first try magnesium and calcium, ideally in a 1:1 ratio as in Solaray Cal-Mag Citrate, for any type of neurological problem. Minerals like these are calming when there is a deficiency. Sometimes other electrolyte minerals like sodium and potassium are also necessary, but enough of these can usually be had with a good diet. I would also use a good multivitamin (Solaray Twice Daily) to provide other minerals as well as vitamins that may be lacking, then round out this basic regimen with a molecularly distilled omega 3 fish oil like Enzymatic Therapy Eskimo-3 (small gelcaps) or Carlson's Fish Oil (comes in large gelcaps or liquid) or similar products offered by Omega Nutrition and Health From The Sun. Don't take multivitamins or fish oil at night since they can be energizing, but calcium and magnesium are ideal taken before bed. turf [possible spam] Re: Neurological problems > > > > Hi AZ, > > More often than not these and other problems are caused by a lack of > magnesium (hydrochloride) > and calcium deficiency. Guest guest
The post on the Calcium Magnesium supplementaion was quite interesting. To delve further into this line of thinking: One of the most interesting books out there is " The Brain Chemistry Diet " by Lesser, M.D. Published by Putnam in 2002. It's basically an excellent orthomolecular holistic approach, which posits balancing brain chemistry through theraputic doses of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Recently Dr. Lesser hosted the Fourth World Conference on Nutritional Medicine http://www.nutritionconference.com in San Francisco. This site offers you some insight into the orthomoecular school of treatment, and mentions some of the most notable practitioners. The book should be available through the site or you can try a google search for a used copy. Dr. Lesser offers both an understanding as well as nutritional regimens in the book, and is one of the pioneers in nutritional and holistic therapy for the brain. The book is a good resource for the public as well as professionals. Dr. Clancy McKenzie, has some very interesting links on meditation being very beneficial to the psyche. He went to India to visit his Guru and gives you the opportunity to hear a short lecture and listen to some chanting. Afterwards you'll most likely feel much better, peaceful, and relaxed. There's no charge to listen. http://www.drmckenzie.com/swami2.html http://www.drmckenzie.com/lect04.html http://www.drmckenzie.com/swami2.html The idea is that we can be more proactive in approaching these neurological and psychological conditions in a number of proactive ways. My Teacher called Sanskrit the " Science of Vibration " . He also felt yoga was beyond any religion, should not be confused with religion, and was for everyone. Frequency healing is a form of vibration. http://www.drmckenzie.com/swami2.html When you have the direct experience of a Spirtual Teacher, it is indeed a wonderful gesture to share with others.... When people are not feeling well, they need to relax, feel better, more tranquil and peaceful, while healing up. -Shel
