Hi, Vicky

Did you use regular processed white sugar? If so, might want to read an

article about processed carbs.....

http://www.newstarget.com/001812.html You might as well have a Dunkin Donut

to dip in that smoothie, Vick. ;)

I make the same type of kefir smoothie using either raw honey or a whole

ripe banana for a sweetener.

Poor Vicky,

She raves about a smoothie, and then gets criticised for using sugar! I

thought exactly the same thing AND canned mango would also have sugar in it

:-( so I would think that adding extra sugar would not be necessary. I've

used fresh mango in kefir smoothies and found it delish, but then I can

stand my kefir straight.....

Hang in their Vicky, we're simply thinking of your health :-)

I prefer fresh fuits too. I don't think I've purchased a can of fruit in years. But, sometimes you have to buy what you can afford.

I bought a can of apples one time at the $1 store and was so disappointed in it, I gave them to my chickens.

KC,

They've got a canned Tropical Fruit Cocktail I have gotten there before

that is good. I'm gonna try that too.

This summer I plan on getting fresh fruits to freeze and also am going

to get some strawberries to put in. I love the Ozark Beauty.

No, I have the raw sugar. The stuff that looks kinda like fine rock candy.

If I had the bananas ($1.29 lb.) right now I would use them but I won't buy

them unless the are 4lb/$1.00 or less. Can't afford it!!!

No Dunkin Donuts out here, but if there was a Crispy Cream I could

really get into to them. OINK OINK ;o)

giggle giggle Lin,........

I would love to use the fresh goodies if I could afford them. I can't

afford them, or should I say I REFUSE to pay outrageous prices, like $1.00

each for unripe Mango's, $1.29 for banana's, 2 12 oz. containers of

strawbeerries for $5.00 and so on! It's bad enough when I'm working, but

when your off work with a broken leg that AIN'T HEALING, on Workers Comp and

have 12 head of cattle, 3 (1 a St. Bernard) dogs, 50 + chickens, a house

payment and all the utility goodies, (no cable, no long distance, just the

bare min) you can only strech the money so far.

Hey, maybe you have a money tree or know somebody that does, that will

be giving off some seeds soon. Can ya send me a couple?? I'd pay ya fer

um!!* g * ;o)

I grow the Ozark and some other ones that are huge. Can't wait for them to take off. The basil is already coming up. Had to cut away all the dead stuff today.

I'm just not happy that they $1 stores only buy canned fruit that has sugar in it. The only canned fruit I use is pineapple in its own juice for pineapple upside down cake.

Holly S**T! Even Albertson's here, which is THE most expensive grocery

store in the state has bananas for $.39/lb. whereas other stores are less.

That's really highway robbery.

Hi Vicky,

I sympathise with you. I only buy mangoes in the summer when they are on

sale, 2 for $1. Have a look for canned mandarines, they are often on sale

for 50 cents or so. Wish I lived closer and could help you out by buying

some of your eggs and milk. Hoping that things will turn around for you.

Do you have a cat? I've heard that having a purring cat on your lap will

help to heal broken bones. I'm serious! They say that is why cats heal

so quickly from their inuries as it's all to do with the sound frequency of

the purr.

Tell me about it!!!!!!! About a month ago banana's were 4lbs/$1.00. I bought

25 pounds of them from real green to just starting to get yellow. That way

they lasted awhile. I had Smoothies like, BIG TIME. I was in hog heaven!!!

$10.00 a pound for a rib eye steak. That ticks me off cuz this is beef

country! Wish I could find somebody to trade some for some of my pork I

raised. Milk fed pork!

This year I'm gonna go to a U-Pick place for strawberries and get them

alot more reasonable than the stores EVER have them here AND they'll be sooo

much better too.

There's a place that just opened last year too that has raspberries

that U-Pick. I'm gonna check out the prices. I ought to be down some on the

290 pounds of pork I put in the freezer last fall and have alot more room in

there. Sold moms freezer cuz I didn't feel I need it. I also have 2 freezers

in the 2 refridgerators, 3 if you count the one in my house I had to shut

down when mom passed and mooved into her trailor. I wonder if I could live

on SMOOTHIES! :o)

Yo ,

Even apples are expensive here. A dollar + and that's insane! Once in

awhile you might see certin ones for .59 to .79. There's no call for that.

Most apple keep well and are easy to grow. Sometimes in the summer (not very

often) ya might see Mango's for 3/$1.00.

I've let the chickens go OFF laying for the winter. It's too hard on

them if you don't have heat in the henhouse, keeping warm and laying is alot

of work. I wouldn't want to have to have a baby every day and a half of

less! YOWZA!! Besides, the Lord ment them to rest in the winter anyway. Days

are shorter in winter so the pituitary gland slows down, stopping the

laying. Besides, if they DO lay in the winter (light on in the house) and ya

don't get to the eggs several times a day, they freeze!

NO CATS! I'm not a cat person. However I do have a bouncing Jack

Terrier puppy that was from the first litter my male sired and I got

pick-o-the-litter bitch puppy. Just what I needed. ANOTHER mouth to feed. I

advertised her for sale for a couple weeks, but the 3 people that came to

look at her were not qualified to own one of my JRT's for one reason or

another. I don't sell my pups to just ANYBODY. You have to be a Terrier

person AND have a fenced yard.

Maybe my hand vibrator that I slip my had into and rub my feet and legs

with would help it some. The vibration is a bit much on the bone though.

It's a bitey type ouch, if ya know what I mean.

I don't know if that's true, but I sleep better when one of the cats is purring next to me.

But, I can't sleep at all if the dogs aren't there.

Well, I could send you some of my apples too. If I have too many berries of

any kind, I'll freeze them and send some to you. I usually have enough to

eat and put up into jam.

I would buy some at $1/lb. They are $1.69/lb. here.

My chickens lay during the winter. Some don't, but the Sex Links lay all year and they do fine. I do get a lot less because some of my chickens are older and back off during the winter. Right now almost all the chickens are laying. I thought the white commercial hens I got when they were chicks would have started by now. I wanted to have some white eggs for the people who have kids so they could color them for Easter. Don't know if that will happen.

KC,

I have plans of coming down your way later this spring/summer after I

work on my truck. I need do a few things to it,, and when the weather gets

warmer so I can sleep in the truck without using the heater.

I thought I might stop in and bug ya a bit. See how that little bionic

apricot is doin. If you wouldn't mind my intruding on your normal routine.

Maybe I'll be there when Margie calves again.

Damn, does that mean I have to clean house this year? (ROFLMAO)

Sure, c'mon down. Margie is due 6/2/05.

You just want me to make some Pad Thai again.

********Why clean house? Then I won't feel at home! You can get away with

vacuming. That's pretty much all I'm ever up to!.

If it's a flat surface, it has something piled on it!! Pretty much the

only thing that bugs me is " cat hair getting in my mouth " ! When I went to

see Becky (my daughter) in Moscow, I told her she should at least " rake once

in awhile " , to get rid of cat hair in her apartment. She has like 6 I think

plus the German Shepard she got when she visited me some time back.

I thought I'm a slob, but she's got me beat, 10 fold!!!

My joint is always cluttered, but is usually pretty clean.****

*****It would be nice to just get,, " away " for awhile. Haven't had a vacation

sinc 76!

That's a good time. Not too hot yet and usually pretty nice out.

Maybe if I get there before she calves I'll do a Heifer dance over her. *g*

*****

>You just want me to make some Pad Thai again.

******Yah, right! That was pretty good. Maybe I'll get the recipe this time.

Hell if I'm coming all that way for Pad Thai, I may as well go outta my way

on the way back to Montana and go to Spokcane for Red Lobster.

Yah,,,,,,Right!**********
