Guest guest
Hi everyone, I also have been reading for a while and had to jump in. I started with TOS ( thoratic outlet syndrome) that turned to RSD ( reflex sympathetic dystrophy) after having a first rib recestion. No, I did not have an extra rib. I was so swollen it was cutting blood flow down the arm and it got to the point of remove the rib are loose the arm. I choose to keep my arm. But thats when my arm started going beserk. I've been through all the Gangalin blocks, trigger point injections, therapy, You name it I've tried it. Now the RSD has spread to the right arm and in my legs. I have been on Celexa for a year now, along with about 13 other meds. and they are not helping. I live in Louisiana, about a half hour from New Orleans. In the 10 years I've been dealing with this, none of the Dr's around here believe in giving strong pain meds. I also feel that I am at a stand-still with the Dr. I have been seeing and am about to start looking again. Has anyone heard of someone being given a stimulant to help with pain? He just put me on Dexedrine? Hoping for painfree nights! , Also known as Swamp Witch

Guest guest
Hi , Thank you for introducing yourself & welcome. You certainly do pass our list-eligibility test. It should be illegal for one person to have all your problems, but then who could you sue? As far as the dexedrine, I have not ever heard of it being given for chronic pain. It is prescribable for very limited purposes, mainly sleeping sickness & hyperactivity in young children. (Dexedrine has the reverse effect in pre puberty than the effect in adults.) But dexedrine can have a calming property. There may be other reasons your doc rx'd it for you. There is a complete drug reference site with the full professional information on drugs at www.rxlist.com. Another good drug site that has about the best drug interaction checker I've seen is www.drkoop.com. You also might want to ask your doc why it was prescribed. There might be a good reason. The serious amount of spread of the RSD through your body makes me wonder if there might not be another condition involved. Your docs may have already examined this possibility. Guest guest
, I have been told to take a certain kind of cough medicine to make the meds work better, but I can't stand to swallow any liguid meds, so I chose not to do so. I certainly wouldn't take a stimulant at night or you'll never sleep either(atleast not after 3pm). If you have faith in the dr. all you can do is give a a trial run for a few days to a week to see if it works for you, not everything works for everyone. PLease let us know how you are. In the mean time I will include you in my prayers, for God to ease your Pain and other problems. Should you ever need to talk I'm usually around since I have been disabled from my health problems that just seem to keep growing. At this rate I can't afford to go back to the dr.'s office. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS, TODAY AND ALWAYS, YOUR FRIEND IN CHRIST, TRISH /TDBEARANGL@...
