Cindee Lee,

I had one that was treated with PT, heat, and Epidural

injections.(Earlier and more conservatively Nsaids and streroids) After a car

wreck the spur

in the area pressed on the spine and caused me to be unable to turn my head,

and I had to have a cervical discectomy and fusion with steel plates. That is

last resort. Other conditions can mimic a herniation and you need a test to

see what it is. They will show up on a MRI or ct and sometimes you need a

myleogram for a definative diagnosis. How have you arrived at your diagnosis?

Ok, I am diagnosing myself - based on an internet research - with a

herniated cervical disc (neck pain and right arm numbness) - ok,

Marta - you can try to stop laughing now!!! :) ANyway, just wondered

if any of you have had this and how you treated it.

hugs, cindy lee - who may have a medical phobia

Just happened to have re-subbed to the group and saw your message.

Depending on how bad the herniation is, and what kind of neuropath

damage it does, depends on what kind of treatment. I would recommend

going to a neurologist/neuro surgeon (if its real bad) or an ortho

doc if its not real bad for physical therapy.

I have had one fusion (bone graft from right hip) at C4-5 and am

having another fusion at C5-6 on Nov. 12th.

Herniated discs are no fun. I hope that isn't the case with you, but

they would be able to tell from a MRI.

Nah, lee, I am not laughing, but most likely it is not

herniated. The nerve can be pinched by swelling of surrounding

muscles or damaged by sleeping wrong. I had the same thing for eight

months and the last of the pain was cured by undergoing anesthesia

for the DS. Nerve pain, well, hard to treat so I did nothing except

complain and rub my arm. lol I use meds for my patients, but they

all tend to make you groggy and I can't have that in my line of work,

you know?

Marta
