Guest guest
---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Consultants for Children, Inc. In this newsletter, I will cover the services offered by Consultants for Children, Inc. Along with the consulting services and workshops, Consultants for Children, Inc. is beginning groups for parents and children. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Workshops We offer local and distant workshops for families who have a child diagnosed with autism and/or other pervasive developmental disorders. The workshop model is a two or three day intensive training designed to help families set up their own cost-effective in-home ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) programs. Generally, workshops are held on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but depending on everyone's schedules can occur on any two or three consecuitive days. A workshop is intended to train the team of aides and the parents of the child with the diagnosis to teach the child a variety of concepts. After the workshop has been completed, the home program may commence immediately. During the workshop, the Consultant will be able to additionally help with sibling issues, parent support, and school support, if needed. After the workshop, the team will be required to take data on the child's behavior to find if treatments are effective. Depending on the data received, changes may be made to the child's program. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- School Consultations Consultations are regularly needed in schools regarding new and existing students with autism spectrum disorders attending their schools. Each school consulting contract varies based upon the needs of the clients. The following are only a limited number of possibilities: IEP Planning and Goal Creation, Inclusion Planning, Shadow/Aide Training, Teacher/OT/Speech Specialist Training, and/or Classroom Observations. The training of staff is an integral piece for the child with an autism spectrum disorder. To keep all staff consistent and using the same teaching techniques creates an easier environment for the child to learn in and increases the abilities and opportunities for that child. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Assessments At Consultants for Children, Inc. we offer assessments for children with disabilities.
