Guest guest
Diane, try Protein 95 from GNC. The chocolate tastes like chocolate milk. The banana is good too. I sometimes mix the two and have a protein drink that tastes like chocolate covered bananas! The package says it is 50 grams of 100% Ion exchange whey protein isolate and it's asparatame free. If anyone knows anything about it could you share? It's almost too good to be " good for me " . I figure that what I eat for breakfast(3 fried eggs, 2 sausages and toast) was a good start on the protein. Then If I eat a double meat ham sandwich with cheese for lunch Or even a double meat hamburger(can't eat fries with those...LOL) That is the biggest amount of protein in my diet. At supper I can relax a little and add a few carbs. Like I make Hamburger helper and add double meat to the recipe. Add a little parmesan cheese to the top and a salad with bacon or ham or cheese rounds out my day. That doesn't include any snacks like the cherries (fresh) I nibble on at time. While I still can't eat a lot of sugar, Fruit is great this year and when I find good fruit on sale I eat it till I'm sick of it or can't afford it...LOL. Guest guest
I can count on one hand the protein drinks I drank after surgery. The only one I even came close to liking was the isopure and even it was nasty enough to make me gag. I gave up spending money on shakes, mixes, and drinks that I just ended up pouring down the sink. I DID find 1 protein bar I actually enjoyed and I do still eat often simply for the taste (iced oatmeal raisin from Walmart)but otherwise I get all the protein I need from meat, eggs, and beans. So far I have been able to get more than enough in my daily diet without needed supplemental protein. If you have found a protein drink that you not only like to drink, but can also afford to buy for daily use, enjoy! Isopure WAS the only drink that was palatable at all for me. I loved the grape one the best but even it was just not quite " tasty " and after computing the protein I was getting daily with foods, I didn't see the need to spend the extra money on them. Lots of tuna, beef jerky, steak, beans, and eggs has worked wonderfully for me! Cindee > > > > After 22 months, I'm still searching for a liquid protein drink I > can > > stand, without gagging. Guest guest
I eat meat, but it's an easy take along. I'm always running errands at lunch, and alot of times on the weekends I don't have time to fix decent meals, this way, I make sure I get the protein in. Dr K's warning about getting enough protein and calcium make me aware of what I'm eating, and I just feel better, it gives me a boost. 8-) > > > > After 22 months, I'm still searching for a liquid protein drink I > can > > stand, without gagging. But I still do a protien shake in the morning. It helps kick-start my day. I use pro- blend 55 chocolate in a blender with milk (another 10 gms protien) and then add Big train mocha mix (low carb- huh Betsy?) and blend it with ice. Makes a great Ice mocha. I sometimes add a little coffee too. I crave it in the morning. I have done this almost everyday for 3 years and never tire of it. In the summer when it is hot and I want something sweet and healthy, I use problend 55 vanilla in a blender with milk and frozen strawberries instead of ice. Makes a wonderful smoothie.
