PREDNISONE! The only excuse someone needs to go on the SCD, lol. Hey girl,

good for

you! I'm really glad to meet another SCD'er on here. Raw milk and raw

cream.....so kinda

like a half and half? Of all the 24 hour yogurts I made, the half and half was

the best, and

that was even using the dead stuff from the store, lol. We've got some raw cow

milk from

Organic Pastures, and some of their raw cream to try and make some raw half and

half.

I'm also drinking kefir. I sure wish I could find a handy little device to

measure the kefir to

see if lactose is gone or not. If someone could come up with a device like that

it would

open a HUGE door to raw dairy and the SCD. I know of MANY SCD'ers who are

afraid to try

kefir only because of the lactose issue, and it is a shame because kefir is so

wonderful.

Plus......if SCD'ers felt at ease drinking kefir (and eating the 24 hour yogurt)

it would open

up more interest into RAW dairy.

You're in IL? Cool, we be neighbors, lol. I was going to ask you if you have

your own dairy

source, or if you buy from a farmer, but after hearing about a mole on here I

think I'll skip

it, lol. I CAN say, since buying and selling raw dairy is perfectly legal in my

state, that it is

getting harder and harder for me to partake of raw dairy because the DEMAND is

so huge.

If there was any way possible for me to have my own goats I'd do it in a minute.

Someone

posted a website on here awhile back that features raw goat milk, and that

company will

ship it. I tried to order from them yesterday, and even though I'm a regular

customer, I

have to wait until March 21st for them to send me any, and all I can get is 2

gallons,

waaaaa.

I've been on the SCDiet for almost 9 months, but I'm on a lo carb version. For

some

reason, whenever I try to raise my carb intake my gut complains. Is your whole

family on

the diet? How long have you been on it? I was so excited to see your post!

:-)

I was trying to figure that out, too!

I'd like to know more. I have a friend on Prednisone.

Hi Bev, and ,

What is the Specific Carbohydrate Diet? It was invented in the early 1900's by

a doc named

Sydney V. Haas, and it was pretty much for a person with Celiac disease. But it

also

seemed to help folks with gut issues like Crohns, Ulcerative Colitis, IBS, etc.

A lady named

Elaine had a 7 year old daugher who was about to have her colon removed from UC

mentioned above. She found out about Dr. Haas who was in his 90's and still

practicing in

NYC, and she took her daughter to him. Elaine's daugher is now in her 60's and

still has

her colon. After Elaine saw how wonderful her daughter did on the diet, she

went back to

college to find out HOW and WHY the diet worked. Then she wrote a book in

layman's

terms called Breaking the Vicious Cycle to explain the diet. She makes no money

from

this. One can get a copy of the book at any library, and there are no pills or

suppliments

to take.

Not only does this diet get a poor soul with Crohn's off of PRED, but it is

doing wonders

with autistic kids as well. Elaine is now in her 80's and is pretty much

retired. You can

read more about the diet here:

http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/

NO processed foods is the main point, and also no grains.

HTH,

OOPS, I goofed on the good doctor's name. His name is:

Sidney V. Haas, M.D. and his brother was also in practice with him. Dr. S. Haas

had a book

called " Management of Celiac Disease " (out of print now) but a lot of it is

written in

" doctor-speak " , lol.

Thanks for the info. It sounds a little like Mercola's No Grain

Diet??.
