I don't know of any of them who don't pay income tax. They get drivers rather than own cars (so obviously they aren't paying car insurance or liability directly), yes. But then they have the inconvenience of not driving themselves where ever they want to go. I also have never heard of community owned property. Must be it is way different here in Holmes County, Ohio. I also have Amish relatives in Northern Indiana and Wisconsin for whom none of this is true either. I think all the farmers I know own their property, homes, etc individually and have mortgages... Of course there is a lot of variation between different Amish communities...
