Before my RNY it had places that never regained sensations. It isn't like a hand where sensation is needed really bad so it was a no worry thing. if the nerves are cut, there is loss of sensation. Sometimes feeling gets better as time goes by but after a longer time it is probably not coming back. I never worried about it and it didn't affect me. Don't sweat it. My scar area has been numb since day one and I think someone said it could be a couple years before full feeling returns to that area. I'm really not worried about it myself, sort of fun watching freak out when I get a heprin shot or Dr. K. does something in that area (like the Q-tip polka) and I don't feel anyhting. I recall he even put in a secondary subdermal (sp?) drain about three weeks post-op from the d/s digging with forceps to make the channel. nearly passed out just watching and I didn't feel anything. Guest guest Posted December 19, 2004 Report Share Posted December 19, 2004 I have totally regained all feeling (and then some) in the area of my scar. I was completely numb in a 2-3 inch strip from hip to hip after my HR/TT in January, but within several months, feeling started coming back and I had all sensation return by 6 months post-op.
