Guest guest
Thank you Tonnie for this post. Speculation will get us no where... and cause grief. Maybe delayed a few days in the beginning... but to be fair and honest... HOW MANY OF US... would have tried to make it through the holidays? Trust me... I WOULD HAVE! I am grateful for the DS surgery... and I am grateful to Dr. K. It does not keep me from believing that the DS (and ALL other weight loss surgeries) will someday be considered DARK AGE medicine. I personally could not wait for a more humane cure. I thank God for the DS... but I fully believed that I had a good chance of death in the surgery. In fact, I have a webpage devoted to my thoughts on it: http://www.growley.com/mywls/lottery.html I consider that I " won the lottery " of the DS. (Thankfully, there are a LOT of winners.) Unfortunately, did not end up being one of the winners. Dearest ... you are missed. I am so sorry that you were not the winner here... and that your poor family is left to suffer with their grief and their questions. You were the statistic, ... and but by the grace of God... there go I. Elle Group Owner/Moderator julie akers I know its been a while since I ave posted...but...it is very difficult for me to remain silent about all of the posts about . Many of the posts are pure speculation and wrong about what happened to . She sought treatment....she got 2nd opinions and more. There is more to what happened than you know, and 's wishes were to keep silent. She didn't believe there would be any understanding. There is some truth to this as I did receive emails blaming me for my complications. Some people do not want to accept that things can and do go wrong with this surgery. They love our doctors and trust them and believe they walk on water. That is a lot to put on another human being. I trust Dr. Keshishian and like him, but complications happen. I believe people do this because of fear. Those who know me know what I have been through and still am going through. I don't believe there is anything wrong with getting 2nd opinions. Dr. Keshishian always told me to get another opinion. I think 2nd opinions make a smart consumer. I have been blessed with great doctors..my PCP takes care of me, I really like him. I also believe everyone that is considering this surgery needs to think about their family. Mine has suffered tremendously, especially my son. 's son, Jamison, is the one that is suffering the most in this situation. is at peace, but Jamison is suffering with what the surgery has done to his mom. Please let rest in peace, she did nothing wrong but has paid the highest price possible in regards to trying to get thin. I always say I would rather be fat and alive, than dead and thin. I researched this surgery and knew all the complications that could happen, but believe me once it happens to you all the research goes out the window, because unless you suffer life threatening complications the understanding is not there. To answer one of the questions I read, Jamison is probably living with one of 's siblings as he did while she was sick. Tonnie

Guest guest
Thank you for your prayers. Now to answer the reasons why those with terrible complications don't share, such as , myself and others. There is the backlash, as I have mentioned...and the big one is that we don't feel very safe sharing as knew and I know, because the office staff reads the posts...sometimes it can be difficult to be completely honest due to this. I think there has to be a line drawn between office staff and the patients. Tonnie Dear Tonnie, I am sorry to hear that you are still struggling - it has been too long. I pray you feel better very soon. I can only say I wish had not been silent. I wish we had no need to speculate. I don't know her motivation for silence - I wish she could have/would have shared her trials. hugs, cindy lee

As good is the DS is I believe it will be considered a DARK AGE surgery by the end of my (hopefully long) life. It is not a perfect surgery or solution. It has been deadly to some, life threatening to others and problematic to many. I DO NOT consider the DS a free ride. I have daily side effects of the surgery that will last me a lifetime. Sometimes they are mild and other times debilitating. I am extremely thankful for the DS however it isn't a free gift. I " pay for it " daily - very early morning trips to the bathroom (I have not had the pleasure of sleeping-in since I was switched - I miss it), bloating like a toad every evening, extremely foul gas that causes great embarrassment if it slips. My 140ish pound body isn't " free " - it costs me a comfort level that I will most likely never enjoy again. Is it worth it? yes! I would do it again in a heartbeat. Did I know that my nightlife would be crippled so much? - no. Late night card games, movies, any sort of night life causes me great discomfort. I am thankful to be married to a man who likes to stay in and is olfactory impaired. I know many of you do not suffer the extreme gas that I do and have no understand of what I am saying - but if anyone out there shares this issue - know that you are not alone. hugs, cindy lee
