Guest guest
It's worth making one more point about guns: Guns are great technology that democratize force. If Bubba wants to take Jane from , his success will largely depend on the size differential between Bubba and -- *if* he's going to use a knife or a rock. With primitive weapons, fighting is up close and personal. With guns, or tasers, a woman is as powerful as a man. That would also account for some of the peacefulness of the " Wild West " versus the violence of hunter-gatherer societies. Chris

Guest guest
Heidi, A stronger observational, educational, cultural base that provides a better understanding of how to police yourself first before you go anywhere out into the world and police it. The base here is to prime every child to make money in order to be able to buy. The ethics of and to making that money alone aren't taught. Parental ethics, world observation and experience provide that education. You can observe and see that a corporation can deceive it's stockholders and still stay in business. You can observe a bastion to society status and wealth beside a building the homeless slept in the night before, etc, etc, etc., could go on ad nauseum. said in lawsuits thread " Also, while legal laws are based on morals, not all laws are moral and not all morals are laws. I agree wholeheatedly! There's no place where " the " law to live by is either. Back to the point. Whereever there is anyone or anything that is in your face with a must do mandate, attitude or rightness there is always someone or something that has decided to police others instead of or before they learned how to police themselves. The results of that choice can be seen everyday in corruption, deception, greed, control, power, one's right over another's and violence. When the ability to lead and have status took precedence over character's ability to know how to police oneself first a very important precedent to any greatness in humanity was thrown away. There can be more peace in some places more than others because culture can only teach there is no true freedom without personal responsibilty. Governments and economies can teach the perception of personal freedom to do and be whatever one chooses. True responsibilty or accountability can't be taught because teaching that would have to reveal where what's teaching is not responsible and accountable. > But what accounts for the peacefulness of Canada > or Britain vs. the Wild West? Nice try, but you haven't yet provided any statistics that counter 's, which suggested that the Wild West was possibly considerably more peaceful than Canada and Britain. From what I've read (I can't cite sources or statistics), Britain was a pretty violent place back when the west was wild. >
