Guest guest
Joy, I am in CA and I have medi-cal and medicare and got authorization for my surgery the same day that Dee called for it. I was scheduled for the laparoscopy surgery but 24 hours before the surgery found out that medicare denied that and that I would be having open. I guess medicare approves about 50% of the laparoscopy surgeries. -- **Wake me up from the nothing that I've become** -------------- Original message -------------- Hi, it's Joy from San Diego...I just found a success story of a client who successfully argued her case with Medi-cal with the assistance of the Consumer Center for Health Education and Advocacy. They are a nonprofit. This client wanted the Bypass, and I am pretty certain they would help with DS for anyone currently on Medicare or Medical or both. Here is the link if you need it: http://www.healthconsumer.org/storiesSD.htm Hoping this info might help someone needing assistance with the approval process. Blessings, Everybody. Guest guest
I have MediCal and am on disability and I was approved 2 years ago for my ds with absolutely no problems whatsoever! 2 weeks from submittal to approval and the same for my hernia repair and tummy tuck! I had a BMI of 39.4 and was 238 pounds at the time. I think the biggest obstacle to most of us on MediCal or MediCare is that most of us can't even begin to find that program fee in our budgets! To qualify for SSI disability and MediCal your assets and income have to be at a very low level and that program fee is a killer! I thank God everyday for shopwing us the way to find the $$ (Ray took it out of his retirement), and also for my being able to have my ds with little fuss and no fight whatsoever! I hope that more with MediCal and Medicare are able to have this lifesaving procedure as well! I am sure that any article, and any info out there that can help them accheive that goal is appreciated!
