In Texas the prices are between

$5-$8 per gallon for Cow's milk at the farm,

and $8-$10 per gallon for goat's milk.

I have a friend in Pullman,WA who pays $3 a gallon.

BTW, for whoever was wondering where I am paying $12 a gallon for OP raw

milk, I'm in the Sacramento area. Probably because it costs more to truck

it up here from Fresno than to L.A.

Good heavens, am I glad I don't live in Califia... no offense to

those of you who do. ;-)

When I was doing a cow-share I paid what averaged out to about $4.25

- $4.50 per gallon; the milk I'm currently getting is $2.50 for a

half-gallon, $5.00/gallon.

If I had to pay $9 or more per gallon there's no way on God's green

earth I could afford raw milk, no matter how much better for me it

is. Just wouldn't be financially possible.

I'm not aware that any complaints have ever been filed against OP. The owner, Mark Mcafee is the person who travels wherever he is asked to help other states legalize the sale of raw milk and help them set up practices conducive to that end result.

I'm in Stockton, Ca and it is a chain store called, S-Mart that carrys the OP milk and butter for 5.99 per 1/2 gallon and 10.99 per pound respectively. Whole foods in Sacramento and bay area sells the milk for 7.99 per 1/2 gallon, so mark-up is based on demand.

I had been instrumental in getting a health food store to carry it about 6 months ago, but it was too inconvenient for her to meet the driver so early in the morning of each week, so when I approached the supermarket, this particular manager was in favor of trying it as a pilot project after receiving the okay from corporate after they had met with Mark Mcafee and he reassured them that people wouldn't die from drinking raw milk.

I offer a lot of nutrition and fermentation classes so was able to guarantee him some customers right up front.

Supply and demand is what sets the price and the local.

Well, Let me see how much the postage would be and/or UPS over night rates and well see what we can do. I probably wouldn't do it till June when she freshens again because I don't have that much now. She's giving me 2-1/3 gallons and I'm having a hard time keeping up with the demands of the people who want it. But, if it's a viable thing, I would be glad to send it.

I will never be a rich person because I just can't see charging people so much for something that comes at such a reasonable cost. At least I think it's reasonable. Hay here has gone up for me and grain too, but other then the blocks I buy and goodies which are my choice to buy for them, It's really quite reasonable to have such goodness from an animal.

I get so many boxes and packing material from things I get through the mail, I probably have enough to ship milk for 6 months (LMAO).

Of course, you realize we aren't supposed to be doing this. So, don't tell anyone - Except for this group of course (LOL).

Send me an email with your address and I'll check rates. I know a gallon of milk weighs a bit over 8 lbs. and I'll use plastic gallon jugs (food grade) which weigh less then glass and see what it would run.

Damn, you were just around the hill from me. I was down in the city near La Cieniga and between 3rd and Wilshire. My best friend for 20 years lives in Eagle Rock. I've been here for 11 years now. Sure doesn't seem that long.

When I was a teen, I used to go to Burbank to ride horses. Do they still have the stables there or have they been dug up too? And of course the dog shows and puppy matches.

Nice to know there are still real people left in L.A. who know the benefits of real milk. No one I know can figure out what I'm doing out here milking cows in 17 degree weather (LOL).

I can't remember who said raw milk was labeled for pets, but I was curious if they are tinting the milk at all. The law here says raw milk has to be tinted green (I think thats the color) if you are selling it from the farm and it has to be for pets.

Mark McAfee of Organic Pastures is just now (as of Dec) selling his

milk in retail stores in another state besides Calif - here is

Oregon. And the way he can do it is to label it as " for dog and cat

use only in Oregon " and no he doesn't have to color it. I've heard

of other states that do that though. Also the " raw milk " that he

ships UPS across state lines is called Super Leche and has a little

colostrum in it which makes it a food supplement. These are all

legal ways to get around the insane state laws out there. He said

that Weston A Price is working at stopping the crazy laws about not

being able to sell raw milk across state lines - like traveling a

couple of miles or a couple of blocks down the road will make the

milk deadly or toxic lol ;o)

This is great information! I had no idea prices would vary so

much. I don’t believe any one from Georgia has posted any

prices. Since this is where this farmer lives, I sure would appreciate

your input. Also, does any one deliver milk or have it delivered?

They were thinking of making an Albany

run weekly, but they were not sure what to charge for delivery. And

My guys charge 10% of order total for delivery/admin. They do a LOT of

volume, though, so not sure how that affects it (we get more than just

dairy stuff from them).

I pay $2.50 per gallon for milk from a local lady, but when her one cow's dry, I'm more than willing to travel 2 hours (one way) and pay $3.00. So if someone were to be willing to deliver anywhere near where I live (North central Ga) I'd definitely be willing to pay $4.00 to $5.00 for a gallon!! Also, there are several coops that travel from the Atlanta area to South Carolina to get their milk and pay $4.00 per gallon.
