Guest guest
Hi y'all Ok I was told to send an intro so here goes. I am lisa, just turned 38 a few days ago and am in the middle of a nasty divorce. I have 2 children (one is by another man) and I live in florida. I wanted to hold off on writing until after the first divorce hearing (would have been the final one but my young husband decided to fight me for full custody, filed so late the judge had to read his copies, he didn't have them yet!) so we will havea trial around October we think. I got what I asked for in court, my home back, temporary full custody of our 3 month old son and child support. I enjoy reading all sorts of things, from romance, self help, fiction, non fiction and books like Sondra ray, louise hay and Wayne Dyer, chopra too, used to be heavy into metaphysics when I was hm my husband's age, 20! hopefully i can help support som eof y'all here, and hi to Shari, we know each other from another list. lisa http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AffirmationstoDe-Stress A new positive thinking, positive affirmations support group, discussing ways to cope with the stresses of daily life. Guest guest
Hi Karla Amitryptiline is one of the old TCA antidepressants that CAN be taken in small amts throughout the day, but is usually given all in one dose at bedtime because it promotes the brain chemicals that are supposed to make better sleep time. Trouble is, if you are taking it throughout the day, or even if your body allows a "lag time" during all the first part of the day, you will get sleepy periods on and off throughout the day. As a triple whammy, you are just now only one month into low thyroid treatment. All this added together can have an opposite effect of what that TCA was meant for. I took it's "sister" for 4 yrs, and had all the same effects, though I did sleep better at night, with the one dose at bedtime, but it does have it's repercussions. I won't say that a person never needs these things, and the old TCAs, to me, are safer for low thyroid people than ANY of the modern SSRI antidepressants. I don't know anything about nerve damage from the recluse spider. Tell me something about that please. I just assumed he was giving you the TCA for depression or sleep problems or both. Where did this spider bite you? Cortislim---I checked out all the ingredients in this online, and please don't do it, especially while you are in the transitional part of bringing up your low thyroid, it could be devastating, and probably wouldn't work anyway, because of your slow metablolism. What were your labs, with normal reference ranges with them? It takes much more than 4 wks to bring a thyroid body problem to normal status. You're looking at months to a yr, IF you are on the right med for YOU. my intro Hey y'all, I have recently(last month) been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. SIGH. Well, on the bright side, that explains the 25 pound weight gain in 2 months! (How does that happen? LOL) I went from a nice, slim, size 10-12(I am tall) to a big girl really fast. Now I am a roly-poly thing. LOL Tried Atkins- HAHAHHA!!! Got nowhere; played tennis every other night for an hour, ate Atkins- lost NOTIHNG! I thought I was a freak or soemthing. LOL Anyway, I have a wonderful Dr who thought it might be a tumor, and in testing found that it was my thyroid. So my first month's treatment has been Levothyroxin 50 mcg. Its not working. Oh sure, I feel a littel better; my hair has stopped falling out in chunks(for the most part) and is less dry and brittle; I've stopped crying at the drop of a hat(NOT like me at all!); and actually care if my house gets cleaned now.(I WAS once a type A person. My house was immaculate and everything had a place- I was like from 'Friends?' HAHA BUT then hyporthyriodism came and alas, all of that went out the window(or rather, on the coffee table, kitchen table, entry table, floor, etc. LOL)- Anyway.. I have a problem. I am still so sleepy I could just lay down and never get up. SIGH. Now, I am on another medicine for nerve damage from a brown recluse bite(amytryptilin?) and I am wondering if that is interfering with or counteracting my thyroid stuff. Because the first 2 weeks I was fine, until I started my nerve stuff. Now I have headaches and am sleepy all the time and hungry again(side effects of the nerve meds). Any advice to take to my Dr would be appreciated. He is a great listener! (Dr. Welch in Weatherford) Also, I need to lose weight(LOL) and wondered if anyone had tried 'Cortislim' with their thyroid meds and if so, did it work at all? Or at least keep you the same weight instead of still balooning up? Ok, that's about it for now. ~Karla

Guest guest
Wynn You have NO thyroid, and you're on 112 mcgs of Sythroid? What do you weigh, may I ask? The reason I'm asking is that, if the thyroid has been completely removed, the rule of thumb for the T4 meds is 1 mcg per lb of body weight. If you weigh 125 or so or more, then I KNOW that you are underdosed, that is, IF your thyroid has been removed. How long did you say you'd been on the T4? If it's just been a few wks, then maybe the doctor is bringing it up gradually? Re: my intro Karla, I have had TT for PapCA and do take a regular dosage of Synthroid (for the rest of my lie w/ no thyroid gland a t all) at .112micrograms(?) per day. han in there and eventually you will get everything to level out. my prayers and thoughts are with you. Guest guest
Hi All, I am back. I was a part of this group for a few months when it started but felt i needed a break. Now in Winter i have a little more time so i want to try it Daily Digest style for a while. My wife and i leased a small 17 acre farm 2 years ago and started milking one Jersey cow. We now have 20, 12 in milk now. We are presently leasing 110 acres and looking for more as we have a beef herd as well. We also do pastured eggs and soon pigs and goats. I grew up on a conventional dairy farm but have made my living in the alternative health field for 15 years before coming back to farming. My wife is an occupational therapy assistant but stays home with our 3 year old and 3 month old. We are also WAPF local chapters. I was one of the very first ones and have personally recruited most of the other local chapters in our state. We are located one hour north of Tampa FL. We get 12 a gallon for milk here and have a huge waiting list. This sounds like we make a lot of money but our inputs are extremely high. It costs us between 7 and 8 dollars to produce a gallon of milk. After being in alternative health so long i am completely convinced that nutrient dense foods are the key. I decided that if i could farm with a " spare no expense " attitude i would be willing to milk cows again. In other words we are willing to spend any kind of money to get more nutrients into our milk. We consider our milk more like drinking vitamins. I am writing a book about our experiences and i had better stop now before i rewrite it here. Best, Dennis Stoltzfoos
