Guest guest
Okay, so I missed it too!!! Asheville is a LOVELY area, though I've just seen it passing through. When ny was transferred to Greensboro, North Carolina we travelled down I-75 through Tennessee and across North Carolina on " traffic terror turnpike " I-40. I remember either my head or my feet hitting the sides of the van (I was trying to sleep for a short while, never did happen) as we twisted and turned through the mountains, it's like a roller coaster for some distance!!! It's just about 5-1/2 to 6 hours from where we are to Asheville and I'd really like to MEET everyone I've been corresponding with regarding my ups and downs!!! The last time we went back to North Carolina (we were transferred back home to Kentucky in September of 1997 -- after moving to Greensboro from Lexington, KY in November of 1996 -- oh well, they just couldn't decide where they needed ny the most!!!) we went east on I-64 into West Virginia and then through Beckley on I-7?? South into Virginia (got off interstate at Fancy Gap, Virginia and took back roads ?Highway 52? into Winston-Salem and thus avoided I-40 for most of the trip -- saves about 1-1/2 hours!!) but I can travel either way!! Please clue me in when you have a chance. I'd love a good excuse to " get away " with husband and/or husband and kids!! Thanks a bunch!!!! Guest guest
Sounds wonderful - just let me know where and when!!!! I'm trying to type with two cats on my lap -- they're fascinated with the keyboard (should be using voice-activated program, but it's a pain sometimes) -- can't wait to get details!!! Thanks, Tracey

Going to post this on the fibro group, too. It should be great fun. Anytime for me is good except the weekends that include 10/23 and 10/30. Got to go see my FSU Seminoles play Clemson and Virginia. {{{and pain-free wishes}}} Carol " In the little decisions of life, follow your mind; in the big decisions of life, follow your heart. Guest guest
Ray, Sounds like a neat place! Why don't we call and ask about a " block " rate? Find out when it would be cheapest, like mid Oct...real " purdy " down there that time of year. I can do this if you will give me any info you have...I used to work in hotels and can usually do some pretty good wheelin and dealin...hotel rooms are extremely negotiable...I worked organized barter and hotel rooms were easy to get...they have to pay bills whether anyone is in the room or not...*L*..We need to know how many would be interested...Ears wide opening..suggestions folks...who wants to go to the mountains for some nice fresh air...y'all can drink some fresh water from my old grandpa's spring...crystal clear and ice cold...Smoky mountains and clear blue skies, golden leaves amongst a foggy sunrise....the spring gurgles gently...cascades over the hill...while off in the distance a lone whip-o-will...!! " Off the cuff " ...a little vision for my friends! Ray in Virginia wrote: > > > Grove Park Inn is a fabulous place! I took my wife there two years ago.
