Is there anything we can do about this, or are we just unwitting

guinea pigs in the government's experiment?

I don't have time to research this exact claim, but I did read about the EU

opening the way for GM corn to be sold and grown in Europe. This post

sounds like a scare tactic to blame the US for the EU policy

change. Perhaps the EU gave in to US pressure, but is that any reason to

blame the US for their own governments (EU) failure to protect their

citizens. I am not pro-GM, and the GM contamination has already occured.

Agreed, and maybe it is a scare tactic...but it just makes it sound

like the government is giving themselves permission to hide even more

from the genral public... I used to think we lived in a democracy.

I didn't think the government needed its own permission to hide things from

the public.

I went back an re-read the post, it sounds like the buffer zones and size

limits of experimental crop plots is going to be reduced and/or the

penalties/liability for cross contamination will be adjusted. Another part

of the post states that there is no test for the GM crops, this is just

plain wrong. Doing a DNA sample of the crop will show if it is a known,

common variety or something different. The seed companies that develop GM

products also place a marker gene in the modified DNA structure to they can

identify their product and sue those who propagate it without paying the

seed fees. I personally think that the GM work of today will cause far

more problems than those caused by the take-over of raw milk into the

heated/processed fluid substance it is now.
