Guest guest
Elle, Even though my hernia repair has caused me discomfort - I think the mesh never healed right or something. STILL I would get it fixed in a heartbeat!! This mesh discomfort is not nearly as great as the discomfort I had from the hernia. I did not have a panni with it. hugs, cindy lee > I was just wondering if anyone who had their hernia repaired or who had a panni surgery... would you choose to... or choose not to have it done? > > Feel free to write me personally at elle@h... if you don't want to post on the group. > > I am trying to make up my mind whether to have the surgery or not. > > Elle > > >
Guest guest
Elle- I had my hernia/panni just over 6 months ago and YES...I would do it again. The hernia...was uncomfortable- sometimes even painful. The panni...well..sheesh...I don't know of anyone that has a panni that wouldn't want it gone. As for the " actual surgery " and any negative connotations to be mentioned, mmmmmmm...mmmmm...I really don't have any. I knew from the beginning I didn't wanna battle the " saving of the belly button " ...so that I wouldn't have additional complications of loosing it. I didn't have to be " drained " for additional fluids, and all 4 of my drains were pulled on the same day one week after surgery (I understand most of the time two are pulled one week...and two another). Yes, the surgery knocked me on my butt...but I'm a whimp. Yes, I would do it again and remember...I'm a whimp. ~Sandi > I was just wondering if anyone who had their hernia repaired or who had a panni surgery... would you choose to... or choose not to have it done? have been removed]

Is your hernia increasing in size? Mine have been increasing - and I developed a third hernia in the last 2 weeks. So, I'm definitely going to have it done. However, I'm not sure if Dr. K will think I've lost enough weight (61 lbs so far) to do the tt yet. I plan one seeing him in Las Vegas next month. I guess the answer would be yes...Dr.K did tell me going into the surgery that I might have a problem, I just didn't think it would take as long as it did...LOL But it taught me alot...Now Jo aren't you proud of me???LOL 9 out of 10 have no problems at all,I needed to be taught a lesson and it was a good lesson for me. I am still in augh that I have a flat tummy, just don't like the roll above it, but that what happens when you don't have the best insurance, guess I could exercise that part more, but I can live with it..lol Whatever you decide will be the best for you. Guest guest
Hey Elle I had a TT..and would do it again in a heartbeat. The pain goes away and you are left with the confidence of feeling like a normal person. I cant see why anyone wouldnt want it done... Guest guest
Elle asked: " I was just wondering if anyone who had their hernia repaired or who had a panni surgery... would you choose to... or choose not to have it done? " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In a heartbeat! I had a painful umbilical hernia and that floppy skin sitting in my lap and flopping over the sides when I sat was really uncomfortable! I was one of the lucky ones who was up, out, and literally dancing again a week after surgery. I only had the hip to hip incision, they did the tummy tuck, hernia repair and a mons lift all at once. I had only 2 drains (although I did have a problem with a fluid pocket that needed drained weekly for 7 weeks), and I had little to no pain at all! It was amazingly easy and wonderfully pain free for me and I feel very blessed! I wouldn't change it for anything! Cindee

I would have felt like a total failure if I had not had my panni. As you know, I still deal with falling short of my goal and still disappointed. But if I still had that huge flap of hanging skin there in front, I would not feel like I did anything at all. Since my panni I have a flat stomach and feel like I did accomplish something and it makes me feel good. Even tho it was harder for me than the DS, yes, I would do it again. It completed the experience for me and makes me feel better about myself, and the way I look. HTH, my friend. And I am so thankful that your sister did so well. I too, cannot imagine life without my sister and friend. She is so special and we have such a bond.... Keep us posted. love Sharon in Onyx
Guest guest
Can you tell I'm just a little bit > " down " ? > (sorry for the > whining) ================================== Mel....if your going to feel like shit and be draining all over Alabama, you might as well just get it all over with at once. I know it sucks, it is miserable, it feels like it has gone on forever....but if you had the operations done at two different times it would have meant you would be oozing all over Alabama twice as long. This may be tough right now, but when your healed you can get on with the business of life, instead of looking forward to having another recovery period. Keep hanging in there. Piss and moan all you want. Eventually...this to shall pass Hugs Jo
