It is hard when you live in an area, perhaps a more rural area, that doesn't have a facility nearby like we have. We're in the suburbs of an urban area. I know kids are bussed to this special needs school from an hour (or more?) from all directions.

I totally agree; our kids do NOT belong in BD or LD classrooms. Beth was in a BD room but didn't belong there and it didn't work. WE visited another and we also visited an LD classroom. THOSE ARE NOT HER PROBLEMS!! She doesn't have behavior problems; she doesn't have learning disabilities; she has emotional disabilities! But they don't have ED classrooms. With the incidence of autism/aspergers rising the way it is, I'd say we're going to see more ED classrooms in the next few years in our schools.

This is an entry my 14 year old daughter wrote in her journal this week (which she left on my bed!): "I'm blessed to be in such a great school and to have so many friends. It taught me that nobody's perfect and many other things to. I'm looking forward to gym now-a-days too."

Such a blessing, indeed.

cocktail if that's the route you choose. Both of those things help us, alongwith a good private special needs school (we finally got the district toagree to that).Oh MariWe dont have a private school here that would be for someone like my son. There are BD classes, and LD classes, but he doesnt have those problems and he CAN learn in a regular classroom, and he does have good grades, those placements are for those who arent doing well educationally.I dont know, I wish that there were something perfect for my son.I just think that my Asperger's son , almost doesnt fit in anywhere on this planet.Sigh ! in IL :_)
