Guest guest
<<Now research on the web has told me why that happens, and the bottom line is I shouldn't diet. Excercise, eat a bit more healthy but not diet. Of course the pain is too much for me to exercise (as proved by last night) and I am so depressed that I tend to eat a lot of sweets. >> Dear Kathleen, I'm responding to your email because I've had the same weight problems as you. I want to tell you about a " Plan " that I'm following. I saw it on TV and it sounded so very good that I had to invest the money to get the tapes and book. It's called " Somersizing with Suzanne Somers. You don't have to get the tapes, but the book is GREAT...has recipes and everything! The book is called Suzanne Somers' Get Skinny on Fabulous Food and it is available in bookstores everywhere! It says, in the book, that it sells for $24, but I've seen it on sale for less. I've been eating like a pig and I've still lost 27 pounds in 2 months. And, the plan is soooooooooo easy to follow! It even gives you a one page reference guide to put on your fridge so it will be right there everytime you open your fridge. I highly recommend getting the book, Kathleen, it helped me and I've tried EVERY diet I've ever seen and didn't lose weight. I'm so encouraged by my weight loss so far and I intend to continue with this plan until I'm down to the size 14 I desire. Let me be perfectly clear...this is NOT a diet, it is a way of life change. OH, by the way, I'm unable to exercise either and I still lost this weight! Good luck! God bless and gentle hugs to you! Joanne
Guest guest
Joanne, the diet you referred to, is it one of those high protein diets or is it plan that a vegetarian could follow?
Guest guest
Kathleen, I'm so sorry for people that just don't understand. My husband is heavy and people are always telling him to lose weight, like he wouldn't if he could. Add stress and pain, grief and the everyday problems of life. I know that it's not much but I care. I don't feel like you are whinning. And I pray that your tomorrow is better. katnip

I think you can also find the book at the public library. Check it out. I can't exist on a plan that has no meats in it, but you can check it out for yourself! God bless! Guest guest
Hi Joanne and Don't know if this info is of any use at all - but about 3 years ago I developed an allergy to dairy products and have had to substitute with goat, sheep or soya - I lost nearly 2 stone in about the same number of months! Is it the fat content? I don't know! I have to ensure that I get all the vitamins and minerals etc. but it surprised me! My " problem " was that I was just under 9 stone at the time and went to under 7 stone and it has taken over 2 years to get back to just over 8 stone - I'm 5' 4 " and under 7 stone did not suit! I will leave it to those on the list who know about diets etc. to add their comments regarding this. Rosie Suffolk U.K. ICQ#: 71846242 RebelMouse@... " how much does a stone weigh? " I probably should use the tonage weight for my " stone " . In answer to your question, yes, the fat content probably did add to the weight you carried and then lost when you switched to goat, sheep or soya products. But, it was probably ALSO the difference in the SUGAR content too. Sugar is what make your insulin spike and that, in turn, turns carbos into fat. God bless! " how much does a stone weigh? " I probably >should use the tonage weight for my " stone " . In answer to your question, yes, Had to find a conversion chart in my diary!! 1 stone = 14lb = 6.3503kg so I THINK that makes my weight now at 8 stone 4lb as 116lb (51.63 kg? - any maths experts check this please?!) >the fat content probably did add to the weight you carried and then lost when >you switched to goat, sheep or soya products. But, it was probably ALSO the >difference in the SUGAR content too. Sugar is what make your insulin spike >and that, in turn, turns carbos into fat. I'm learning!! <bg> - Also the " effect " when I found that I was allergic was CHRONIC IBS - only a tiny spot (and I mean tiny - a crumb of cake half the size of my little finger nail!) of ANYTHING with any dairy in it and I would spend the next 5 hours in the bathroom! And I used to drink milk by the gallon (hang on - checking the diary!) - 1 gallon = 8 pints = 4.546 litres - eat cheese like it was going out of fashion - also yoghurts etc.! That changed my lifestyle - and my shopping habits! No more " What do you fancy for dinner " but " oh look - I can eat this!! " Take Care Rosie Suffolk U.K. ICQ#: 71846242 RebelMouse@... I do use Tesco's own coffee whitener in my tea (or drink black tea) which has Caseinates in it - but that is the only " dairy-related " substance that I can tolerate. I have a list (buried somewhere!) of ALL dairy " components " as I got quiet heavily into this with Mark (now 15 and can eat anything! " oh this cheesecake IS LOVELY Mum - don't you want some?! " ). He was my " Soya babe " - projectile vomiting at 2-3 weeks old with a half strength Cow & Gate formula! Sent home from a spell in hospital - " sorry - we can't establish feeding! " BTW - also got " into " food additives/artificial colourings with (21 this year) - a hyperactive child if any artificial colours in his diet - found out when he got a COMPLEMENTARY letter from the headmaster after a week of no puddings and only water to drink!! (I'm a cruel Mum!) Anyway back to the Lactaid Milk - I have seen UHT cartons of this (I think) but have not yet got the nerve to risk experimenting! Maybe one day...?? DANG, I think I weighed that at birth!! LOL Just kidding. But I'll probably never see that weight again...sighhhhhhhhh oh well, I'm gonna keep at this plan til I lose the weight I want. Like I said, it's a lifestyle change. I also have a milk intolerance but I take Lactaid and it helps tremendously. But, milk has a lot of sugar in it and I'm trying to stay completely away from sugar. The only place I get it is in fruits now, but that's natural sugars and I only eat fruits in the morning so I can burn off the energy I get from it during my normal day's exercises. By the way, the book I told you about, well, you can get it at the library too! God Bless! Joanne
Guest guest
Carol, A true food allergy to milk and a lactose intolerance are two totally different things. A lactose intolerance is a lack of an enzyme that the body produces to help you digest milk products. That is why you can take Lactaid tablets or use the lactose free products and still consume the milk. If you have a true allergy, then your body recognizes the milk as an antigen and attacks as if it is something harmful to you which causes a histamine reaction that can become life threatening if you go into anaphylactic shock. When I have a food allergy reaction I can feel my entire body reacting. I break out into a cold sweat, have difficulty breathing, and my stomach and intestines feel as if they will literally explode. I explained the difference because I don't want anyone to make the mistake of misunderstanding the two reactions since the food allergy can be so dangerous. My son is so allergic to tomato products that his throat swells and he vomits. The more he ate, the worse the reaction until we finally figured it out. We were very lucky that his throat never swelled to the point that it obstructed his airway, but the doctor said it was only a matter of time. Guest guest
I only do the cardio in the morning. I can seem to manage getting up 30 minutes earlier to get it done before going to work. I can't get up at 5 am though. I don't get to bed until 10:30 or 11. I need at least 7 hrs sleep and get up at 6:30 or 7.
