Guest guest
My youngest's eyes often seem dilated. I've never kept a record, but I've noticed it on many occasions. He's pdd-nos. He has several diagnoses in relation to his eyes though. Not much help huh? Intertesting though. a > Maybe this is familiar to someone here? > > I have always had dilated pupils, my son has them too. Guest guest
My autistic sons eyes are dialated too. I have heard that this is a sign of Mercury damage/poisoning. le
Guest guest
Very interesting, and possibly helpful too! Guest guest
Where could the mercury come from? Fillings? Is there another source? Do they put it in medications or shots or something? My son and I, neither of us have had fillings. My mother who has been diagnosed with MS and definitely has mercury poisoning (lots of really archaic nasty dental work)... she's never had dilated pupils, but she has brown eyes. hrm... > My autistic sons eyes are dialated too. Guest guest
Has she always been like that, or is this something new? Guest guest
It's not new...I just noticed it in the past year or two. She's on meds and I've wondered if that might have something to do with it. Toodles!>^..^<Maralee Re: Dilated Pupils Has she always been like that, or is this something new? Guest guest
You might want to take a look at pictures and see if you notice the pupils. I've never taken medications for AS/aut. and I've never taken drugs of any kind. I've been like this all my life... Mom says she did ask the doctor about it once when I was 4. I just noticed that my son's pupils were enormous a few months ago, and I thought it might be related to changing vision (maybe time for glasses). I've looked at his pictures and realized that it goes back to at least the age of 3 or 4 for him also. I have been reading about the possible relationship between dilated pupils and mercury and sulphur absorption, etc., but most of the doctors have noted that the test subjects were on medications and therefore might have unnaturally enlarged pupils. I really believe that this is something naturally occuring, but I'm finding no information about it one way or the other. > > > > Maybe this is familiar to someone here? > > > > > > > > I have always had dilated pupils, my son has them too. Guest guest
Well we have a brown eyed boy so it's going to be hard to tell in photos. I will say he's on no long term meds. Never has been. He's just 3. And enlarged pupils is not listed as part of any of his other eye problems. Furthermore I think I've only noticed the condition in the past year at most. So sometime after his 2 b-day. Also no dental work has been done. I will ask at his next eye appt, but that's not til Nov. I'll try keeping an eye on it to see if it's an all the time thing too, but getting him to look directly at you is not an easy task. a > > > > > Maybe this is familiar to someone here? > > > > > > > > > > I have always had dilated pupils, my son has them too. > No > > one > > > else > > > > > in my family does, and no one else in my family is > autistic. > > > > > > > > > > I just read in Donna ' book " Nobody Nowhere " > that > > she > > > has > > > > > had dilated pupils since she was a toddler. Guest guest
My son loved looking at my face when I drew funny pictures on it. This is how I got him to handle eye contact. He's still a little wierd with other people, but he will look at me. > > > > > > Maybe this is familiar to someone here? > > > > > > > > > > > > I have always had dilated pupils, my son has them too. > > No > > > one > > > > else > > > > > > in my family does, and no one else in my family is > > autistic. > > > > > > > > > > > > I just read in Donna ' book " Nobody Nowhere " > > that > > > she > > > > has > > > > > > had dilated pupils since she was a toddler.
