I have tried to keep quiet about this but, I feel like I can no longer keep my

mouth shut. How dare you try to sell these pins for $6 a piece? Unless all the

proceeds are going to charity or research, shame on you!! Since it's being sold

on Ebay, I'm pretty sure you are pocketing this money for yourself. Please

nobody buy from this scam artist. Go to s, buy the ribbon and you can

make 100 for $6. Outrageous!!

What if this person is trying to raise money they don't have to pay for his or

her child's treatment? What if they are donating some of the proceeds to

research or a charity? You jumped to a conclusion and scolded the person without

knowing for sure.

My wife and I are just now starting to get a some therapists and a consultant

together to provide in-home ABA/VB for our son. We often wonder how we will pay

for all of it, but we feel it's something we must do so we'll find a way.

Maybe this person is trying to increase awareness of autism and at the same time

make a little money for thier child's treatment. I don't know that to be the

case, I just think you shouldn't be so ready to condemn them.

5 minutes of reading from the ebay link, and the link on ebay to the

seller's web site at http://autismfamilycircle.com, reveals that the seller

is the mother of 4, selling the ribbons to raise money for therapy for her

autistic children. Seems like a pretty legitimate (and worthy) cause imho.

As with anything on the internet, there ARE scam artists out there. Often a

few moments of review or research will reveal those that are legitimate.

Umm...All the parents here are wondering how they are going to pay for their

children's medical expenses. Why should this person make money off parents who

are in the same boat? Raise awareness for autism? You think selling these

ribbons for $6 a piece will do that? How about doing what I did and make them

for free? Or donating them to legit organizations who will really give all the

proceeds to autism research?

I'm sure some parents have less trouble paying the bills than others.

Not everyone who purchases items on eBay is a parent of an autistic child.

I frequently wear a little CAN pin to work or in public. I don't do it because

it's a fashionable accessory. I do it so others will see it. I think the source

of your displeasure is that you made ribbons and distributed them for free. I

applaud and thank you for that!!

If you're consistent with your philosophy against what this women did, it would

mean that you're against any type of fund raiser that benefits an individual

rather than an entire group. Have you ever seen a barbque benefit with all the

proceeds going to help pay a child with terminal cancer's hospital bills? Or, a

raffle to help the widow of a slain police officer? Would you consider these to

be wrong, also?

Peace,

I ordered 4 of these pins from ebay last friday.. I am a new parent and

thought they were cool. But then I went to my own support group and found I

could have bought the same things for two dollars less each and no shipping

and handling... I feel very foolish!!

If there is anyway I can get my money back I would love to do so!!

Does everyone not see what this person is trying to do? I belong to several

autism email groups and this person keeps sending links to her overly priced

ribbons everyday to a bunch of different groups. I have spoken to other parents

who are on lists that I am not on and they are also getting emails from her. It

seems like she has joined several email groups just to make money. Shouldn't

there be some kind of rule for this thing?

I was crucified last week for speaking up about this scam artist. This was

exactly the thing I wanted to keep from happening. A new mom to autism, being

ripped off by someone using autism to make money. Okay, so she needs to make a

little extra money , to fund her children's therapies. Does that make it okay to

rip off other parents who are all trying to help their kids? Why not sell them

for 2 or 3 bucks? She would still be making a profit off that!! I went to

's and bought a yard of the autism ribbon for $5. You can still make a

profit by selling them for a buck!!

After defending this last week, I got offended when this went from a

one-time post to a regular (read daily) marketing spam. I have contacted

the seller and expressed the sentiments of this group to her. She has

agreed to stop posting these emails to this group.
