Guest guest
My son, , (11 years old) is working on a phonics based reading decoding program right now. Things are going well so far but that is partly due to a strong sight word base. The main hangup may be poor handwriting skills. He is good at tracing and still has trouble forming letters independently. I still want him to work on this but I don't want to hold him back on reading skills which are definately the stronger of the two. Do you have any recommendations for typewriting or keyboard toy applications? At the ripe old age of 11, shouldn't we be able to just graduate to typing on the computer and skip toys? I don't want games, games, games. I just want a program that I can control and type in the words or the program has a " word bank " with simple words and then can " write " the word by typing it. I feel that we need something to help cement the reading skills. Thanks for any ideas you can offer. Marsha
