Guest guest
Okey, All the talk about the various results with the GFCF diet mods has me very curious. I am a sp ed teacher in the Houston area. I work with middle school age students. I currently have 2 diaged as Au. One set of parents is proactive with their guy (I've already suggested they check this list out!) but my other one didn't even show for the ARD this year. (she did " phone in " ). It is the second child I have questions about. He is very small in stature, has what appear to be " manic " spells of days and days. Has always been a " tapper " and grabber of food - acts as if he is starving all the time. His bowls will go from total inactivity to " extreme clean out " . I really think a lot of his " problems " could be helped with a some dietary changes but as I've already indicated the parents are not interactive. Is there anything I can do in the school environment diet wise? We do have a snack time, he eats breakfast lunch and snack at school. He is on no meds. My assistant and I both " know " he is a smart kid but the " behaviors " are always there. He is about 12 years old now and I worry about what his life will be like in another 10 years. We teach life skills so cooking and meal prep are all a part of my class so suggestions here could easily be integrated into my curriculum for general health and nutrition areas. Please feel free to contact me off list. Thank you all for sharing your experiences. I have already learned so much from being a member of this list.
