Guest guest
Hi all, As some of you may know I have had Matt on Zoloft for 4 years. He was taking 100mg a day and this helped him to do every day tasks and not to cry at the drop of a hat. Recently on Dr. Jerry Kartzinel's recommendation I visited Google and looked up Zoloft. It was scary. I reduced over 6 weeks Matt's dose to 50mg and I am in 2 more weeks going to reduce it again to 37mg. Matt had some inappropriate crying for awhile and would say " why sad? " and " it's okay " . It broke our hearts but he's past that now and is laughing and crying appropriately. We are now about to test his serotonin levels to see where we are at. I'm telling you all this because I have in the past been a big fan of Zoloft and I attributed it to Matt's gaining on language at age 3 from 10 words to over 100 in 3 months. I still think Zoloft can be helpful but only on a short term basis. I was afraid that if I reduced Matt's dose he would go back to being so terribly sad but such is not the case even without adding 5htp or tryptophan. I just thought you all should know. If you have any ?'s about why Dr. Jerry wanted me to wean Matt email me privately or go see the side effects on Google. Trina
Guest guest
Hi , My daughter was on Zoloft when she was 10 - 12 years old. The effective dose for her was 200mg. For six weeks she was uncharacteristically obnoxious, then back to her usual self. Unfortunatly she could not fall sleep. This kid naturally is a sleeper so this was very distressful to everyone! She augmented with a small dose of Trazadone and went back to her 'normal' 10 - 12 hour sleeps! btw, her father takes 200mg Zoloft and 150mg Effexor. After Zoloft she was prescribed clomipramine/anafranil which worked well, but I did not like the typical side effects. On the s Hopkins site I read that Effexor can replace clomipramine. We tried it, it worked! She stopped medication this summer and at 15, is in control and a happy hormonal kid. " A.
