Guest guest
I was just told by a pharmacist that alcohol and prednisone is harder on your stomach. I think it's okay to have one or two drinks. I'm afraid to touch alcohol these days not just because of the medication but because of this illness. Maybe I'm being too cautious. Guest guest
I didn't know that you shouldnt drink when you are on Prednisone....is this true? If so then I was never told this. The only time I was told not to drink alcohol was when I was taking Methotrexate. I can't drink alcohol now because I am on blood thinners so I know what you mean about it being a bummer when you cant celebrate bringing in the new year with some alcohol or any other event when others are drinking. But hey on the bright side at least you are sober enough to see the others making an ass out of themselves....LOL Take care and happy New Year to everyone!! Marilyn mhogg69@... Guest guest
Oops, good thing nothing happened while I had a couple of beers on New Years Eve... I'm just getting better since they have me on the 60 Mg Prednisone dose.... I know it isn't anything to play around with. I missed my dose by 5 hours one day and swelled up and started running fevers again... See ya, Re: Prednisone I didn't know that you shouldnt drink when you are on Prednisone....is this true? Guest guest
Hi, Dr. Tomasovic, a neurologist in San is using a steroid if the child has abnormal myelin protein antibodies. I don't remember if it was prednisone though. Here is his office phone number in case you want to check . I am sure you would have to leave a message since they usually are too busy to answer the phones. Theresa

The Prednisone is used for 6 months with strict testing of blood pressure and other things--can't remember right now--and then is tapered off for an additional 2 or 3 months. There were side effects like bloating and weight gain but these did not last. The gains made appear to be lasting even after the drug is stopped. At least one mother reported that her child lost all stemming behaviors within a couple of days of starting the drug. I believe one theory behind why it works is that these kids are actually suffering from an autoimmune disease and that the Prednisone stops or slows the bodies rejection of itself. Guest guest
, What specific symptom of autism were they targeting with the pred? In Boston I spoke with Dr. Buie and he sad they are using singular for our kiddo. We just started the pentasa that helps with small bowel inflammation and can also help the colon. My older guy is using flonase spray for his throat to help the inflammation of the esophagus. Guest guest
I think it helps with inflammation that is caused from an auto immune disease for example, a viral infection.
