Guest guest
just a few things off the top of my head, please add your thoughts, folks! 1) for thick phlegm, Slice a raw onion (the typical way, so you get concentric rings). Set just one or two discs out on a plate in the same room as baby. It helps break up thick sputum. For toddlers, kids and adults you could alternatively make a poultice and apply with wraps. 2) On the opposite end of the spectrum, a potato poultice helps relieve copious amounts of thin, watery discharge and draw out toxins. 3) Eucalyptus oil in very hot water (careful!) in a stable container on the floor... make a tent with a very large towel, get under there with baby for 10 minutes. You can also use a standard vapourizer humidifier (the hot kind) and add the oil to the little compartment. 4) Set out perhaps 1/2 a litre of white vinegar in the room, I don't know the rationale but I think it accomplishes the same thing as the onion, and smells better to most people. liora > > Does anyone have a recommendation for a humidifier or vaporizer for congestion? We realize that our DS baby (4 weeks old) will have recurring issues with congestion & respiratory infections & want to invest in a worthy unit. >
