This shouldn't be a surprise. Japanese textbooks included very little about WWI, particularly the things that lead up to it like Japanese military conquests and brutality in Korea and China. They had information about the atomic bombs and what happened to Japan, but assigned no blame to Japan for getting itself into war with the US and allies. I also don't know where this guy gets off saying Asians preferred living under Japan. Japanese rule was quite brutal and repressive and the majority of people were glad to see them go.

There was a comment in another post about how we are friends today. Well, that may be true, but it is interesting that in anime, it is very common for the bad guy to be American or American-like while the good guys or their allies are Germanic.
