Guest guest
Hi All! I'm new here so I thought I would tell a little of my story. I received my transplant on 8/17/03. The unusual part of my story is that the first time I became sick (with liver problems) was 8/15/03. God blessed me with a true miracle, I got my transplant after waiting a little longer than 48hrs. The only thing I remember about my initial illnes was telling my parents that I felt sick to my stomach. The hepatic encephalopathy took over and i was taken to the hospital. The hospital thought I had overdosed on drugs, didnt bother taking levels, and i was sent home. My parents didnt believe that and took me back the next day. it was then that the drs realized that i was in fulminant hepatic failure. they sent me to the university of Michigan hospital and there i was put to the top of the national list and my parents waited (I say my parents waited because I was in a coma and at that point didnt know what had happened) My parents were told to say goodbye to me because the said I had 8 hrs. tops. I got a liver just in time! If my parents had not pushed them to actually check my blood levels to see that I hadnt OD I wouldnt be here. I had a few complications (who hasnt right)like having to learn how to walk again because some of the neural connections were damaged during my initial illness. At times I wonder if I have come to terms with my illness. I think I have because I am always happy and have changed my whole life for the better including a renewed relationship with God. But everything just happened so fast I have no clue as to how most people experience things and I have only found one other person who had their tp the way I had mine. I am also only 24 yrs old so its hard to find people my age. Today, after 8 long months, I got my PTC tube pulled. I am wondering if anyone else has had swelling after having a long term PTC tube removed. All of my levels are good, my abdomen is just swollen.
