Clockwise. The key is pinched between the thumb and first finger. The wrist

and forearm is designed to turn clockwise or outward, not inward.

The answer is as you have observed. The design of the hand, wrist, and arm

makes it easier for a right handed person to turn a key clockwise. And is

opposite for left handers.
