Guest guest
Hello All, My 4.5 year old son gets easily frustrated while writing. If I would ask him to write some alphabets he wuold say that he cant do it whereas he has no (obvious to me) writing issues. If I bribe him by saying that if u write u get a cracker he would quickly do it. I am confused, is it becoz he gets overwhelmed by the task and is aspraxic? or does he has body awareness, motor planning, bilateral integration, memory, visual perception, fine motor coordination issues. or is it motivation issue? The same goes for cutting with scissors, he can do it but feels he cant, and he tries to be perfect in what he does. Can anyone throw light on this? Confused. Guest guest
My son can be the same way. He's 12. We had to break tasks down into parts. Depending on the size of the task. That way he does not feel so overwhelmed by what is being asked of him. HTH! Guest guest
Your son sounds exactly like my almost five year old who has Aspergers. He has since developed more confidence, less fear and intimidation since he started his school program. He is in a pre-k program for kids with Aspergers or mild autism and is doing very well. Is your son in a program? Manon Proud Mom of Two Autistic Boys! Writing Issues?
