Dear Tina,

Thank you for the welcome.

Yes we homeschool. :) Right now we are not drinking alot due to some crud

of a cold.

Right now we have 11 gallons of in our fridge and I don't know what to do

with it :) That is not counting the milking we are going to get in 1/2 hour

from now. Yesterday we made mozzerella cheese and used 6 gallons of milk.

That was good. If you have any recipes to share I would love some. I did

make yogurt but they were not impressed with it. I also didn't sweetened

it. Not sure when to sweeten it and when to add in fruit. I'm supposed to

be getting some kefir grains from a friend soon. Hopefully that will help

with the milk. Right now my dd is making ice cream for dessert tonight but

that will only use up 1 gallon of milk. So far we are enjoying her. She

isn't too friendly yet as she came from a dairy farm. Not used to people

much.

Blessings!

Vicky,

Thank you for the poem. Dave and I both enjoyed it :) Sorry to hear of

your losses. She was bred the day we got her as the previous owner wanted to

make sure she got bred if we decided against getting her. If the bredding

doesn't take we will have access to a pure bred jersey in about 2 months.

He is halter broke and gentle. It will be such a learning experience if her

calf makes it. We just had a kid (goat) die this past week. We were hoping

to milk the mama but for some reason she didn't produce any milk. So we

will wait until our other goat kids' and try again.

Thank you for the welcome :)

K.C.

Thank you for the welcome. As soon as we get our grains I will be making

kefir. My children tried it and some didn't like it. So it's a matter of

keep introducing it.

Blessings,

Hi:

I love suggesting www.cheesemaking.com to people who don't know what to do with their milk. You can get cultures for sour cream, buttermilk (for those pancakes and biscuits and freeze it to), cream cheese and lots of other soft cheeses as well as hard cheese. That's what I had to do when my cow shareholders didn't come for milk when I had a bunch of it.

Just a suggestion,

K.C.

Hi Wendi-Welcome. Be sure and check out all the files, links, etc. on

this yahoo groups home page. There are some good articles, and maybe

some ideas about how to acquire milk. Not sure about south Georgia, but

maybe someone will pipe in on that. Enjoy!

Welcome Heidi. Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your 4th. How exciting.

I hope that you can find out what is best for Joe soon. Sounds like it has been a tough time.

I don't have any suggestions for you, but I wanted to welcome you !

Hello,

I am new to this group and so I thought I would introduce my self. My name is Heidi, and I am form Montana. I have 3 kids right now with one on the way due in December. My oldest is 12 today and he (Joe) has downs, behavior issues, and an under active frontal lobe. I have a 9 year old daughter ( Jordyn) and then there is my 5 year old (). Joe was diagnosed with ADHD When he was 7 and up till about a year and a half ago have been trying all kinds of meds for that even went to a nurologist (Sp) when the ped. Tried all the meds he knew. Nothing seemed to help all the way and if it did it only helped for a little bit and then gone. So then he went to a pshc. And he just keep upping the doses and adding more. So after a bad summer of him running away every day and breaking windows to our house I took him off of everything and he was fine then at then end of the school year I took him to a neurobehavioral Specialist for some testing to find out that he has significant frontal impairment. So then he was off meds and fine for the whole summer then goes back to school, only to find out that the teachers can not handle him and think he needs meds again so here we went again. We are now seeing a Psyc. and doing the meds all over again, mind you the same ones he was on before just alone to see if they work understand that, they do not work. He had a really hard school year and this summer has been trying he had an allergic reaction to the med he was on (Abilify) and the heat and he went crazy so needless to say took him off of it. He is still taking clonidine and I give him melitonin to sleep. But his behavior is still the same. To top it all off he is going through puberty and so that does not help any either. I just keep praying that he has a good year at school this year. We go back to the Dr. This week for the first time since I took him off of the med. So we will see what she has to say. My idea is for him to take vitamins which I started and I was also thinking of an omaga one as I have heard it relaxes you. Then making a scheadual . Any thoughts are apperciated as I am at my breaking point with the meds. I know there is something out there that has to work. I have been waiting to here about him going to Shodair were there are staff there so they can do extensive meds to see which one works but still waiting to hear back on that one. One lady suggested having him go to a theraputic foster care but I just don't want to do that. I have faith that there is something that will work.

Hi Everyone. Thanks for letting me join the group. My name is . My

husband and I have 3 adopted children. We have two boys who are 6 and 4 and are

" typical " if that's even possible! :) The youngest (2.5 yrs old) is Aimee and

she has Down Syndrome. She came to us from India about 6 months ago.

Aimee had heart surgery at 10 months old in India but now her heart looks great

according to her cardiologist. Aimee has vision problems which will be helped

if we can ever get her to keep her glasses ON! :) Her biggest challenge right

now is that she has oral-sensory issues and also oral aversion. She eats and

drinks very little and the doctors are concerned (and so are we!). We just had

an evaluation done last Friday and are waiting to find out when we can start

more intensive therapy (she's already in ECI).

Of course, Aimee is so much more than any diagnosis or " syndrome " . She is such a

happy, sweet little girl who has totally wrapped us around her fingers. She has

been a huge blessing and we're so glad to have her with us. I look forward to

learning from all of you and hopefully someday will have knowledge to share as

well!

I guess that's about it. Have a great week everyone!

HI ,Welcome! I'm Ruby, I have 4 so called "typical" children and my youngest (for the next few weeks) is Sophia who has Down syndrome. She also had heart surgery - at 3 months old, and her cardiologist says she is doing great now! She just turned two in December so our girls are not too far apart in age. My daughter, like yours, has us wrapped around her finger! She is perfect in every way to us and we couldn't be more in love with her!Welcome to the group, I'm sure you'll find lots of useful info and support here.RubyHi Everyone.
