Guest guest
You know, while it's great to hear about new information, it is kind of annoying to have it presented in such an antagonistic way. These parents do in fact do much research, all while taking care of a child or children with autism. That alone would be a full time job but they also deal with school systems that are antagonistic to their children, a government that wants to pretend that their children do not exist and doctors who spout the holy word of the pharmaceutical companies. These parent's are going to conferences on autism, spending thousands of dollars and as many hours on ABA and any other possibly promising treatment. Some of them are using the DAN or other protocols to chelate the mercury out of their children, many of these same parents use supplements from companies such as Kirkman's lab and even Epsom salt treatments. Some of these parent's are using the NIDS protocol, some using Secretin and probably a dozen other things I'm not aware of. I feel it is rude to imply that parents are not doing research. Heck, most of the time, they are the only ones doing research! The NIH, CDC, FDA and IOM sure aren't or when they do, it's tailored to avoid that sticky thimerosal issue. So you see, what you have here is yet another treatment for autism, one among many. Is it as good or better than what we already have? I don't know. I haven't researched it yet. I will though, and then I will decide for myself. It's the same thing that every other parent here will do. Please feel free to give us URLs and other citing references. But don't feel free to add in condemnation, no matter how much you think these parents are slackers. Walk a mile in their shoes......... Avalon, RN Any awareness of whats going on in science? Sorry this is long: I came across this site sort of by accident; you know, hit and miss with internet topic search. I'm from MN and I was looking up some information for my sister who is a teacher for High level Autism children in andria, VA. Your group must not be aware that a huge number of children and adults, especially those with Autism, ADD and ADHD are regaining their health with glyconutrients. How come when I put this in the search on your site, there is nothing written? Here you are in the state of TEXAS and you don't know about this? That's where they are being produced! Parents!!! You have to do your research!!!!!! Natural products are available and have been since 96',(I think?) It's in the recent news, medical journals, and even being taught in the medical universities. I cut and pasted a few articles below. A medical/layperson site is: www.usaglycoscience.com I personally consume it, not that I'm autistic, but just to stay healthy. This is their toll free information line: The order number is: Your first time order ID is 710818 then you get your own. For God's sakes get this stuff into your kids!!!! You know we can't improve if we aren't eating well, and none of us eat well. These glyconutrients build your immune system so your cells recognize what it is bumping into. The immune system, if healthy, determines if it's good or if it's bad and what to do about it.

There have been many many things that have been touted as " cures " or radical breakthroughs and many of us know quite a bit about most of them. We tend to discuss the things we personally have seen benefit from more than others. I recall glyconutrients were being pushed really big around the time my son was first diagnosed in 1995 and then again at several conventions or seminars throughout the following seven years. The " science " behind them sounds really great but of those I know who have used them, they just haven't seen the big results touted. I've known many many families who have tried them and only a few who thought they saw any benefits at all. The only people who I know who have used them long-term were the ones selling them. Now, perhaps that's because they were really impressed with the product but compared to other interventions I've watched through the years, the glyconutrients just really didn't seem to provide as much benefit to large numbers of kids or even a substantial subgroup of autistic kids. Now, it's great of you to share this information with the list but I'd recommend you change your message a bit to be less insulting of the readers' experience and intelligence. State your information respectfully and people will be much more likely to consider it. Gaylen
Guest guest
If you have something to say (or sell) then you can just post it to us " ignorant parents " . We don't need the lectures please. Let me see, so far, the following have cured autistic children except mine ofcourse: Secretin GFCF diet ABA TEACCH sonrise carnosine chelation Mt prompter supernuthera B6/magnesium spark (by the way has anyone used this yet? I just heard about this) TFFD Allithiamine epsolm salt bath IVIG Zinc NACT OT ST sensory integration verbal behavior .....etc and million other things. Just google on Autism and treatment and see how many of them you find out there... sorry I missed yours. Any awareness of whats going on in science? Most of the women if not all, had different bible translations along with new and revised editions. So when a topic was covered, we all were allowed to give our thoughts. The thoughts were so varied, some gals just agreed, but it was all very religious. Nobody had a Strong's Concordance, nor was there any suggestion to investigate the meaning of any words in the Hebrew or Greek language. Nothing, in my opinion was gained but a couple of hours of " feel good " for a group of big hearted, beautiful God loving women. But, blind as a bat. In October 2001, MITs Technology Review magazine had a one-page article entitled, " Sugars Could be Biology's Next Sweet-spot. " It appeared on page 33. The term they use when talking about Glycobiology is Glycomics (the " o " is a long " o " for purposes of pronouncing the word). In that article they said, " Biologists are finding that minor differences in sugar structures can have a huge impact on biological functions; in fact, sugars are involved in everything from embryonic development to regulation of the immune system. " > Now, in their February 2003 edition of that same magazine which is their " Annual Innovation Issue " they list Glycomics as one of the " 10 Emerging Technologies that will Change the World. " That title is emblazoned across the middle of the cover of that magazine. In the article they say, " The reason for the excitement around glycomics is that sugars have a vital, albeit often overlooked, function in the body. In particular, sugars play a critical role in stabilizing and determining the functions of proteins through a process called glycosylation, in which sugar units are attached to other molecules including newly made proteins. 'If you don't have any glycoslation, you don't have life,' says son. " Scientific American.com October 2002 issue Adding Sugar to Bioscience Note: 4 out of the last 8... including the last 3 in a row Nobels for Medicine have dealt with the cellular communication process and its importance to our wellness (1994, 1999, 2000 and 2001). Günter Blobel, M.D., Ph.D. Investigator, Rockefeller University Winner of the 1999 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine " for the discovery that (glyco) proteins have intrinsic signals that govern their transport and localization in the cell. " Summary A large number of proteins carrying out essential functions are constantly being made within our cells. These proteins have to be transported either out of the cell, or to the different compartments - the organelles - within the cell. How are newly made proteins transported across the membrane surrounding the organelles, and how are they directed to their correct location? These questions have been answered through the work of this year's Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, Dr Günter Blobel, a cell and molecular biologist at the Rockefeller University in New York. Already at the beginning of the 1970s he discovered that newly synthesized proteins have an intrinsic signal that is essential for governing them to and across the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum, one of the cell's organelles. During the next twenty years Blobel characterized in detail the molecular mechanisms underlying these processes. He also showed that similar " address tags " , or " zip codes " , direct proteins to other intracellular organelles. The principles discovered and described by Günter Blobel turned out to be universal, operating similarly in yeast, plant, and animal cells. A number of human hereditary diseases are caused by errors in these signals and transport mechanisms. Blobel's research has also contributed to the development of a more effective use of cells as " protein factories " for the production of important drugs. What this means for you and me... Glyconutrients are a new and more specialized type of nutraceutical. They support the process our individual tissue cells use to recognize, and communicate with each other. The work that Dr. Blobel and many others have done let us understand the importance of good cell communication to ensure good health. The discovery of Glyconutrients and their role in human health is now in Mainstream Medicine. While Dr. Blobel has continued to study cell to cell communication, so has much of the world. We do not have to wait for " synthetic drugs " to appear. Dr. Emil Mondoa explains, " these eight essential sugars, known as saccharides, are the basis of multi-cellular intelligence-- the ability of cells to communicate, cohere, and work together to keep us healthy and balanced. Even tiny amounts of these sugars--or lack of them--have profound effects. " These eight essential sugars are the " zip codes " that proteins use. If you want my assistance, (sometimes without the attitude,) I'll do what I can. I'm sure my sister will also. She's older, wiser, and nicer. Ann --- maryann_tfw@... Guest guest
I 'm interested in knowing if any of you who posted back to the group.. bothered to send it directly to her?? No offense... but she could have dropped the group after posting... Those of us that get this by email get everyones responses daily... and if she were a member of the group for longer than 5 minutes she would have know that all of us are trying really hard to help our kids.... And that there is a lot of information flowing here. And she may not have searched the correct terms to get the information she was looking for... If you would have asked for help she would have got it.... Please remember... everyday people step in to " our world " for minutes of time...really we live in it daily.... 1440 minutes a day. I am glad that there are alot of you come here and share your experiences...give hope and comfort....and that you go the distance. Sincerely, Hammers Ian's Mom Ian doesn't live life through his diagnosis...he is normal.

However, it doesn't look like she unsubscribed, so hopefully she got the feedback and if not, oh well. > > Please remember... everyday people step in to " our world " for minutes of > time...really we live in it daily.... 1440 minutes a day. I can't imagine having a child with this difficult diagnosis and not wanting to connect and share ideas and hope. Terri (BTW, I rarely use my full name in signing. Usually when I do, it's because I'm mad and don't feel like signing in a chummy way)
