Truba -

A good yahoo group which discusses chelation extensively is

" Autism-Mercury. " There are many parents on this list with similar

questions. Overall, there are not many posts that scream " HELP - WHY DID I

DO THIS? " as the children start the chelation process. There are some

" WOW's " from parents who's children never spoke before (how wonderful!) and

probably more comments regarding small steady gains noted in their children.

Some don't see much happening, but I think this is just the case of autism

and how different are children are. Most have toxicity though. No doubt

once you see your lab results!

My son is also a patient of Dr. Holmes. We have not chelated yet because of

her " uneasiness " to do this with him because he has made very good

improvements without it. I don't know how your child is doing now at age 7,

but as she told me " using DMSA and ALA on a child with classic autistic

symptoms and especially who is non-verbal is a no-brainer decision. " It is

on the higher functioning kids, where you run the real risk of yeast

problems when you add the ALA, that is becomes a more difficult decision.

There can and is regression - the noticing of more autistic symptoms - as

the toxins are being removed but it is usually short-lived and well worth it

in the long run. She also is a proponent of something new, called MT

Promoter, which is suppose to do the same thing as DMSA and ALA without the

yeast problems.

I think you will get a lot of information and know what to do after you meet

with Dr. Holmes in August. The lab reports will be a real eye-opener!

Also, Super Nu-Thera, in and of itself, made my child extremely hyper.

After talking to Kirkman's, they thought it was one of the flavoring

additives. They make a nu-thera w/P5P capsule which has worked well with

us.

Subject: RE: Confused? Dr Holmes ph#

Wow as in very dangerously hyper. Matt is much calmer and happier just

now that I intend to be very careful with any new supplements as you can

imagine. I do not doubt that Matt is toxic, I was just wondering what to

expect from chelation. I would be willing to do it if there was a chance

for any great improvement because we still have so far to go.....Truba
