Guest guest
FWD notes from parents ~ those vaccines may still have thimerosal in them! Schafer newsletter Regarding the Parent From Massachusetts Regarding the letter from the parent who had their child vaccinated in Massachusetts and was told that there was no thimerosal in the vaccines. My son was also vaccinated in MA and has a diagnosis of PDD/NOS. We obtained the lot numbers of the vaccines that he received in 2002 (his birth year) and 2003 to determine if there was thimerosal in them to calculate the amount of mercury that Noah had received. In fact, there most certainly was thimerosal in the vaccines he received. Massachusetts may have stopped buying new vaccines with thimerosal in them or some other reason that this parent was falsely informed that vaccines no longer contained thimerosal back in 2003 but those left on the shelves in inventory at a minimum still had them. - Lloyd Stern I also live in Massachusetts. My 5 year old son was loaded with thimerasol and has autism. I was pregnant with my daughter when he was diagnosed. I was very cautious with her vaccinations and insisted on reading all vaccine labels. My pediatrician was very understanding but did show me vaccines that still had thimerasol. Fortunately my daughter only recieved thimerasol-free vaccines. My point is that Massachusetts did NOT clear their shelves of mercury laced vaccines even if they told you that. I am sorry if they told you that and maybe that pediatrician did pesonally clear his shelves of thimerasol laced vaccines but it certainly wasn't mandated in our state. - Riley You are right by telling people to ask to read the package insert on the vaccines. I have a friend who had a baby in May 2005. They brought her the Hep B vaccine in at the hospital and she asked about Thimerosal and asked to read the package insert. Guess What? Thimerosal was right there. - Sharon Hill, 's Creek, KY My son's pediatrician assured me there was no Thimerosal in vaccines anymore. When I went to get my son's kindergarten shots in July 2004 - I asked to see the insert literature for all of them. One of them did contain Thimerosal. She was shocked! I requested another brand - and again checked the label. The only way this parent will know for sure is to research the records of the shot that was given to his/her child. - Audry in Elk Grove, CA
