: I haven't read all the responses yet, so am not sure if you

have directions to the pictures, but in my LBD caregivers screen there

is a menu to the left that says: " Home, Messages, Post, Chat, files,

Photos, Links, Database, Polls, Members, Calendar " among other things.

If you click on Photos ... there we are. If you have a different

configuration, let me know and I will try to guide you further. k/k

Wondering if you found the pictures yet? I had to sign into the LBD

group. There you will find a shorter version of all postings with

dates. To the left of that is a box containing promps saying: Posts

Chat

Photos....blah blah blah

Anyway, click onto the Photos, then click onto the individual

thumbnails. If I can do it with this WebTV, you can do it. Good luck!

Also, wanted to tell Kate and Jackie thanks for sending on the photos.

When life slows down a bit I too will scare the group with a photo sent

to K/K in hopes she will be able to post it. Wonderful pictures

ladies!!! Thanks so much for sharing and letting us know your more!

Hi Sandie. I have been closely reading all your updates on your Dad. I was

glad to see that Hospice personnel was kind and good to your father. He

certainly deserves that! I did get into see photos, however, where are you?

I saw and Skippy. Those pictures are great!

Let me know!

Thanks Sandie.

So glad you figured out the process of this modern technology. I have

yet to get any photos posted...life has just been a little busy with all

involved. Kate said she would help me with it. Hopefully some time

soon I will be able to scare the group with my photo, and more

importantly a photo of my dad...and his beautiful blue eyes.

Hope your MIL is well and happy today! I heard from , at sea,

she even sent me a pic. of the ship she is on. It was truly a cherished

gift and I have filed it into my save files.

I thought the photos there were very nice. I will be looking forward to

seeing your smiley face in there as well as your fathers! MIL is great

today thankfully. I can't tell you what a difference that Seroquel has made

Sandie. Night and day difference. I am glad you heard from ! That

ship is pretty impressive! My kids love getting pictures from her! I just

sent her a care package with some drawings her mom recently did. Kind of

strange, my MIL has always been an artist (she had done tons of paintings,

drawings..) and she had stopped for the last 5 years or so, until we got her

on this Seroquel. She started drawing again. She still doesn't talk much,

but she painted a picture of a lady sitting in the grass with a hat on. She

was pretty and the painting was awesome. Then she showed me another one and

Sandie it was down right frightening! It honestly looked like a

demon/devil. It really shook me. I asked her what it was and she just

smiled. She doesn't talk much anymore. Usually, if you ask her something,

she will answer, but I don't think she even knew what or why she painted it.

Hope your Dad is having a good day. Have you heard anything today?

Take care neighbor!

It sounds like such a gift to have you MIL able to express herself

through art. I have often wanted to give my dad a disposable camera, to

have him photograph the world through his eyes. It is now too late for

that.

He is doing ok today. I have noticed though that in the past his hands

and fingers were outstretched...the last few days they are turned in and

clenched. He holds his hand and arms out even when lying in his bed,

bent at the elbows. It is hard to explain but I know the memory is

embedded in my thoughts. For that, I focus on his eyes and the volumes

he speaks with them. He did have some of a nutrient drink today.

, thank you for asking about my dad. Also, I am so very glad you

MIL is having a good day today. It is more than wonderful that she is

back to painting. I would think that these days, the paintings would be

worth millions of sentimental value. The picture of the devil/evil

would probably disturb me also yet I would be happy knowing she painted

it.

Take care, and I look forward to seeing more posts from you.

What a great idea to give our LO's a camera to take pictures of whatever

they like. Speaking of pictures, do you take some of him now? Has the

doctor said anything as to why he may be holding his hands that way? Could

he have had a thought in his mind that he was grabbing at something or

holding something? I see this also at my MIL's assisted living home where

some of the patients have their hands the same way as your Dad, but they

seem content. Do you think they could maybe give him a tylenol in case he

may be trying to express some pain (headache...)?

You are right about the painting. We are so happy she is doing that again.

We just have to enjoy the good ride right now because as we all know, the

LBD coaster never stays in one place for too long.

Thanks for your concerns and thoughts too! I hope you and your Dad have a

good night. You both deserve it!

Take care.

Sandie are they putting rolls of cloth in his clenched fist? Also

can you get him to open them by just gently prying them open and then

you can put lotion on them and give them a massage at the same time

streching the fingers to help keep them limber. Barb

So far dad is able to open them, just his preferred position is having

them closed. The position is more as if one would make a talking motion

with thumb and all fingers. Also, his wrists are somewhat turned in.

He can move them from that position, at times, but mostly he is in the

closed, turned in position. Hard to explain. Thank you for this reply

and for caring so much to take the time out to care for me.

Sandi,

My dad at times has the clenched hands and turned in wrists. Like all LBD

symptoms it comes and goes. I wondered if it was part of the Parkinson's.

Keep us posted on how things are going with your dad. Does he sleep in a

fetal position at night? My dad does.

We are going through another antibiotic. I think we are on one every 6 to 8

weeks. He is down to 108 lbs. When he is on antibiotics he continues to loose

weight. When you don't feel good one tends to not eat well. We have had him

on the calorie malts for weeks to regain what he lost the last time and to no

avail have gained much of it back. Now here we go again.

Answering some of your questions...I took a picture of dad in the former

nh in June and haven't since then. I have one from last year, around

the same time of the year and comparing the 2 there is a considerable

change.

Haven't asked the dr. why dad holds his hands that way. And strangely

enough, when he was taking his meds., he would indicate pain, in his

head, hands, and sometimes all over. Now that he hasn't had any meds.

for a week there is a certin peace about him. He doesn't grab his head

in pain or exercise his hands and cry. The hospice nurse said it could

be his body taking care of itself. After a while and when nearing the

end our bodies will ignore pain, and problems as a defense.

Today my Aunt, Uncle (with the classic Parkinsons, and now

hallucinations) and myself are going to see dad. I am not quite sure

how to get there as my view was from the back of an ambulance....and

feeling very lightheaded and sick to my stomach. My brother was good

about explaining to me how to get there on our ride back, it just didn't

make a lot of sense. I am taking a map with us.

Thank you for your replies and concerns!! Wishing you well and truly

hoping your MIL is able to paint many more pictures for your collection

of memories.

Hugging you right now!! Another antibiotic? Is it pneumonia again?

When I saw you and your dad he was thin but not bad. It is scary to

think he is weighing in at 108 lbs. So far we have been unable to get

my dad to stand on a scale. Last we knew, about a month ago my dad

weighed 160 lbs...he has definately lost weight now. Thank you for

passing along that your dads hands have been in the same position as my

dads. Also, yes, he does sleep in the fetal position which is horrible

to watch as he seems so thin and frail, then in that position...hmmm.

Please keep me posted and I hope to call you soon. Today my Aunt and

Uncle (with PD), and myself are going to see dad. Guess he had gotten

himself up out of bed yesterday. He doesn't talk but was up just kinda

checking out his surroundings. Thank you Debbie for your concern of my

dad especially when you are dealing with so much with your dad.

Hi Sandie. I too was comparing pictures and there is tons of difference

with her too. I agree totally with you that near the end our bodies kind of

take over. My Grandma died in 1998 at Abbott Hospital and in the early part

of her stay, she would often complain about pain. But near the end, she

didn't complain at all. There was that same " peaceful " look. That look

scared me, but at the same time consoled me. She seemed to hang on forever.

My Dad and my uncle were there constantly. Then one day, my Dad stepped out

to get some coffee. When he came back, she had passed. I told him she must

have been waiting until he left so she could go and not have him watch that.

Same thing happened to my Grandpa. My Grandma wouldn't leave the room, and

finally she went home to get some more clothes and he passed almost the

moment she left the room. Kind of scary!

My FIL just got my MIL a new little easel and a water color paint set (in a

wooden box that is really really nice!). She has been painting a lot now!

Gives her something to do which is nice.

I hope you find your way there ok. I am happy you have your Aunt and Uncle

coming with. How nice for you and your Dad!

Let us know how things are going. Take care,

Sandie,

My mom is the same way since being in the hospital. I try to calm her and

gently push her hands down. She is just so tense and afraid. Shirley

  • 6 years later...

Here is Isabella after the race, we took just a shot of three of our kids who participated. The boy in black, took first in his age group, he is 9 and the little guy is 4 and took 2nd in his age group. They gave Isabella a medal for not giving up and even let he stand as 4th place on the podium....she was in her glory. Here she is looking quite proud of herself!
