Guest guest
Hi List, A few of you may know that one of the places I volunteer is at TCART (Texas Center for Autism Research & Treatment)here in San . I do their web page at http://www.tcart.org and Dr. just gave me the Repligen Secretin Study information to place on the web site. I am also the " lucky person " who will get to return the phone calls, schedule appointments and give out information on this study. I thought I would let " my favorite group " know first that the study has opened and they/we are taking calls to be returned for initial screening. Repligen will be publicizing this across Texas. San already has TV airing time set up to get the word out. They are only taking a limited number of children at this site. This is the phase 3 study for Repligen http://www.repligen.com (their web site has information too). I heard Dr. Schneider talk about their phase 2 study results at the Feb. Medical Conference. There are alot of places to research this potential treatment on the Internet and I would encourage parents to make informed decisions. This is what is now on the web site: Secretin Study - TCART & Repligen Corporation are now accepting children to participate in a FDA approved double-blinded, placebo controlled study, to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the man- made hormone Secretin, for treatment of autism in young children. Your child may be eligible to participate in this research study if he/she is at least 2 years, 8 months but less than 5 years, and has been diagnosed with autism. This study will take place at the Texas Center for Autism Research & Treatment, and the University Health Center-Downtown in San . The duration of the study is about 5-6 months and will require 11 study visits in San . If you would be interested in participating in this study, or would like more information, please contact: Theresa Madore, Study Coordinator at , 1-888-338- 2278, or e-mail: secretinstudy@... . We will be returning calls Monday-Thursday 9:00am - 12:00 noon and returning e-mails intermittently. ----------------- There is no financial cost to patients admitted to this study. Study medications, laboratory tests, psychological evaluations and the limited medical examinations are paid for by the program. There will be six intravenous doses of RG1068 or placebo at three-week intervals. In the phase 2 studies, Repligen allowed those children that were a part of the study to continue receiving the secretin when the study ended if they wanted (with no charge for the secretin only a charge if the facility charged for the IV push), and for those that received the placebo, they could begin the real secretin and continue also. This would hopefully be the case here if there is no problem with re-approval for TCART - which they are not anticipating. If you would like a flyer sent out to your organization to inform parents of this study, just e-mail me or call TCART, and I will mail, fax, e-mail attach a informational flyer. Feel free to contact me if you have more questions. Hopefully I have everything correct here but I may have missed some points that you would like addressed. I will be in at TCART Wednesday April 17th from 9-12+ if you want to talk to me personally at the above phone numbers. Theresa, SA
