Guest guest
Took (almost 4) for routine bloodwork, CBC and thyroid, last Thurs. It was traumatic for me and him (stick needle in, fish and fish for vein, finally withdraw needle; try other arm, fish and fish again, finally find vein)... I hate putting him through that! So, today my husband took a call from a nurse at 's ped saying that his numbers were a little higher than last time and the ped wants him on hormone replacement and then have him re-tested before his scheduled check up in Sept. WAIT A MINUTE!!! Last Feb./Mar. his numbers were " boderline " , now they are a " little higher " ... they didn't even tell us what his numbers were!! We're going to call and find out. But while had trouble gaining weight his first few months of life and gained ever so slowly his 1st year and even his 2nd year, he has picked up beautifully in the past 1 1/2 years! He's 37 in. tall and 32 lbs., which puts him at about 80% for height and 50% for weight on the DS chart. (He used to be at about 50% for height and about 7-10% for weight.) And that is in spite of his uncorrected CHD! His doctors have raved about how well he is doing. He is active and making progress in all areas of development. Apparently, " slightly high " numbers are not adversly affecting him in any way! And if he does have a sluggish thyroid, I would try natural remedies, not hormone replacement! I remember that Qadoshyah's little brother had significant thyroid trouble as an infant, and that they have used natural remedies, and his numbers came within the normal range and have remained there. What I don't remember is what they used. What supplement(s) can I give to help his thyroid do its job better? BTW, has a strange rash all over his legs, but I don't know that it is related to thyroid in any way. There's eczema in our family, but this doesn't look like eczema or hives. His legs are peppered with tiny light red, raised speckles. They don't have heads like pimples. I assume they itch some, as he scratches them some and then there will be some scratch lines and a few drops of blood. If I put long pants on him, he doesn't scratch. I'm thinking it's an allergic reaction either to something he's eating or an herbal supplement because he has an ouline of raised bumps around his anal opening and some rash on his diaper area. Thanks for all input! Blessings!
