Guest guest
I have been asked to write a BASIC manual for churches to use to help " train " or " educate " their volunteers who work with children and youth who have autism spectrum disorders. I would like everyone who has some experience in this area - to send me a top 5 list of some BASIC tips and techniques that works on your children - or children you work with. I have a little section on the BASICS of ABA --- but they are needing some tips and techniques. Most of the volunteers in churches that we train - have never heard of autism -- and they have like 3 or more kids with autism in their Sunday School classes and they are totally dumfounded but want to teach them and work with them. So some factoiods about autism spectrum disorders --- so they can recognize things like " he's about to blow " - from over stimulation, etc.... What you would like someone to know about autism and how to work with your child. Remember - these are not trained teachers, they are volunteers in churches who know NOTHING about autism or how to teach or work with a child with autism. I need to keep the manual basic and simple. Something they can pick up and read and apply. Every child is different --- but think of the 5 things about how to handle/work with YOUR child with autism or if you are a professional - 5 things about the kids you work with --- and beam me those things I can compile to help the volunteers we are training... I am compiling a resource section as well --- so also beam me a couple of BASIC references for Autism/ABA that the volunteers can use to research or study further... I have a ton - but maybe some of you have some I don't know about! I need to have this done by August 5th.... Please help out if you can! E-mail me at MGuppy@... Sincerely, M. Guppy M.
