Guest guest
Hi Deb,I have been on Ace inhibitors for years which may help in delaying Kidney disease. They are suppose to inhibit proteinuria. There is a DR at Mount Sinai that recently held a seminar and he says all post liver transplant patients have kidney disease and said we should never take over 400mg of Ribavirin.Whoops. I wish I could explain my sugar roller coaster.Perhaps it is stress related. For now though,it is well controlled. It did take a long time for my Creatinine level to come down after my transplant. They completely shut your kidneys down for a while during the liver transplant,as Im sure you know. That can't be good. My next goal is to get a 2 log drop in my viral load at 12 weeks.,or they will stop treatment.
Guest guest
Heyyyy Buddy Bx's at least once a year with more when needed. The last one showed no advancement. I'm holding my own there but we are watching very closely for any changes and jumps in progression. Liver profile labs have dropped towards normal a great deal over 100 points and holding steady for the last 6 months. I was never a diabetic steady blood sugars till post transplant and on 2 types of insulin for months after but than stabilized and off of them. Non diabetes have a severe immediate change to a diabetic induced state immediately after transplant. My kidneys are my main concern and the Dr's at this point in time until that changes. No kidney or UTI infections so antibiotics don't help. It's the strain and damage to the kidneys themselves from chronic HCV, ESLD, transplant being on the machines how high B/P's went any complications for how long and meds. Livers aren't the only organs failing many after transplant with kidneys casing a lot of problems. I don't think they like everything they have been through and metabolizing all those meds and gunk. I also read hypertension showing back up after a few years post transplant which doesn't help matters. A few flare ups with high blood sugars but Dr's think that and high abnormal spike in labs was stress induced. Love and Hugs. Take Care and God Bless. Guest guest
Thank You for getting my last 2 brain cells fired up and working again. I remember now - you are listed - Yeaaaaaaaa !!!!!! Sorry for not remembering but I've been in a bad flare-up. Don't worry I'm to mean and hard headed to go any time soon. Wild mushrooms anyone? LOL. Naw I stick to my arsenal of prescribed drugs to keep me legal. My 30 year old son is a Police Officer but what he doesn't know won't hurt him and he told me he doesn't want to know anyway. Yes Thank God there are many HCV Success Stories but unfortunately still to damn many sad ones. You hang in there. Never loss your faith or hope for the future. You know how to find me if you want to vent rant or rave out of group or in group is fine too. Love and Hugs. Take Care and God Bless.
