Guest guest
How old were your children when they were diagnosed with ADD or ADHD?? I have a daughter (6yr) who is ASD and a son who is 2 almost 3. I think of my son as an active outgoing normal little boy. But the secretary at my daughter's school made a comment that I should talk to my pediatrician about my son being ADHD - she said he reminded her of her son who is ADHD....I think she is crazy! My son doesn't do anything that I consider unusual. Anyway, Just though I would ask your opinions?!Chap 'n Ali wrote: Maurine, I use a mix OPC3 which has 25mg each of several different things in it. Diagnosed with ADHD at age 5 and a half. they are my grandchildren.(Connor's teacher complained about his incessant talking in school. Really common as it's often the teacher the only one to fuss about it. maurineangie carter wrote: How old were your children when they were diagnosed with ADD or ADHD?? Guest guest
Angie, I have a 3 year old daughter as well who can be quite rambunctious. I had her tested 3 times at EI just for precaution because her brother regressed into Autism. She was way ahead of where she needed to be all 3 times. The rambunctious (obstinate) nature I find almost always relates to food. She only got 3 vaccines starting at 6 months but during those 3 vaccs she started having swallowing issues so I stopped altogether. But many people are finding some issues with siblings and you can always attack it the way you would a spectrum Kiddo. I give her CLO, MB-12 sublingual, and I try and remember probiotics which are so important. But I soooo see the difference when I keep her away from food dyes, preservatives, MSG and I had her allergy tested and took away the foods she was positive for. It is IMPOSSIBLE to test to see if a child has ADD or AD(H)D at the age of 2 or 3. Most of the behaviors are very normal for that age. DO NOT take him to a Dr. to diagnose him that early. Ask for a referral to an allergist though. If there are problems in school you can then have him tested if you want. But I would supplement, and use a diet, etc. Use your knowledge of treating your child with autism to counteract mild behavior issues of an NT sibling. Otherwise you’ll be sent home with a decision of whether or not to give a drug like Ritalin way toooo young. My pedi would never give a referral for a ADD AD(H)D diagnosis so early anyway. Although some are starting to push it. Remember anyway that the diagnoses of AD(H)D and autism are really only autoimmune conditions or physiological conditions affecting the brain and the “titles” given are really inaccurate. Good luck and don’t freak out, one opinion from a secretary does not a diagnosis make. - From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On Behalf Of angie carter Sent: Monday, May 28, 2007 7:23 PM To: mb12 valtrex Subject: RE: Re: OT: ADD drugs or not- and Jenn How old were your children when they were diagnosed with ADD or ADHD?? Guest guest
Can't tell for sure who you are asking this question of. My daughter Esme was four before she got an actual diagnosis of PDD NOS and ADD, but we knew far before then that there were problems. The most obvious for her were fine and gross motor skills. She also was a miserable colicky baby. If we only knew then what we know now, we sure could have done a lot more. The ADD without hyperactivity is more the picture of a daydreamer--not distracted by something else, but more often just drifting off to who knows where. I have no hands on experience with my own kids with the hyperactive type. jack RE: Re: OT: ADD drugs or not- and Jenn How old were your children when they were diagnosed with ADD or ADHD?? He is scheduled for testing this summer. I had not thought of trying the MB12 with him...what dosage do you give your 3yr old..not sure of weight but my son is pretty big boy.Chap 'n Ali wrote: Angie, I have a 3 year old daughter as well who can be quite rambunctious. Guest guest
Angie, I’m about to switch to the oral spray soon and I haven’t figured out the dosage of that one yet. But I have been giving her either the Jarrow 1000mg every other day or the 5000mg every 4 to 5 days. Depending on which one I have in the house. I take it too and it has really helped my migraines. My daughter is 3 ½ 34lbs. Btw her food allergies turned out to be almost as bad as my ASD son. Casein, soy, chocolate, watermelon, beef, eggs, tree nuts, almonds, etc. I see quite a protein theme with my kids…. Good luck, From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On Behalf Of angie carter Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2007 12:56 PM To: mb12 valtrex Subject: RE: Re: OT: ADD drugs or not- and Jenn Thanks , I appreciate you sharing your story with us. I am POSITIVE he does have some food issues. He is scheduled for testing this summer. I had not thought of trying the MB12 with him...what dosage do you give your 3yr old..not sure of weight but my son is pretty big boy. - Park yourself in front of a world of choices in alternative vehicles. Visit the Yahoo! Auto Green Center.
