Guest guest
Timary I did not like what adderall did to my son. But it works differently for all children, it just didn't work for my son whom has aspergers, adhd, ocd, pyschosis
Guest guest
We tried Ritalin which works much like Adderall. Even a very low dose put my son to sleep. Celexa (a SSRI) combined with Tenex (an antihypertensive) has been much more successful. It is my opinion that the Celexa helped my son in social areas and the Tenex helped his ADHD symptoms. Neither have been a magical cure, but both have helped him make good progress over the last year and a half. adderall question My son's developmental pediatrician suggested we try adderall for my 6 year old asperger's son. Has anyone had any experience with adderall and ASD? I'm confused because the reading I've done suggests that pyschostimulants are not appropriate for ASD children. It seems like an SSRI would be more appropriate (and that is actually what his neurologist recommended). Any experiences or comments would be much appreciated. Guest guest
- thanks for the info. We'll give it a try next week. He is to try the 5mg Adderall XR. The dr. said we should give it a week to see the full effects. BTW, we just moved from Central Florida - Melbourne, to be exact. I sure miss those great Florida winters... Guest guest
I would have to say in my personal experience, that adderal will not help your son. My son, who (after 5 years of searching-he's 10 now)) was put on adderal for a short time last year. Even though my son would get angry at people, he never hit anyone-til he started taking adderal. Then his anger turned into hitting, and his temper seemed multiplied by 10. Needless to say, we took him off the adderal, and those problems went away. My son is currently taking Imipramine, but he just finished a huge round of testing at the states diagnostic center-when we finally get the report (hopefully this week) they will have other recommendations that we might be able to include with the imipramine. Best of luck- timaryp wrote: > > My son's developmental pediatrician suggested we try adderall for my > 6 year old asperger's son. Has anyone had any experience with > adderall and ASD?
