Guest guest
I'm a little confused to a 'low carb' diet. By this do you mean refined carbs such as sugary foods? The reason I ask is that from I have learnt, its protein we need to keep down and to keep complex carbs (pasta, baked beans, bread etc) high, to give us energy - which we need! As with ant-inflammatory foods ... I think thats all it is - blueberries are supposed to great! Steve Inflammation Diet Hi all, Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday and all. Was watching the Today show this morning and they had on the doctor that was on Oprah not long ago talking about his diet that combats inflammation and prevents aging. Just wondering if anyone had tried that. I tried low carb and it almost killed me. Put this doctors book on hold at the library it is called " The Perricone promise : look younger, live longer in three easy steps / Perricone. Guest guest
Steve, by low carb diets I was referring to Atkins, South Beach etc. These diets pretty much eliminate carbs, good and bad and focus on protein. Southbeach lets you have more, but it was too brutal for me and my pain was thru the roof. Lynn -- Inflammation Diet Hi all, Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday and all. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I don't know whether it was coincidence but I was on the Atkin's diet prior to coming out of remission ... I was also going to the gym and building quite a lot of muscle. I found that by cutting out things like eggs, red meat etc (high protein food), I started to feel a lot better after a certain amount of time. Dr Weil (top pysician in America) says a little on diseases like RA, Lupus etc ... I know one is to cut protein down to 10% of total calorie intake (around 20% in healthy adults). Guest guest
, My internal med doctor said it made sense that eating more protein made me hurt more. Thanks for sharing. I hope this will work. Lynn -- Inflammation Diet Hi all, Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday and all. Guest guest
No problems Lynn. Whilst I am not a doctor all I can do is share what I have learnt .. I drink rice milk now instead of cows milk. Rice milk is made from brown rice (hence the name lol!) ... so it's carbs as opposed to cows milk which is high protein. I also go more for chicken & fish as opposed to red meat (pork, lamb, beef - although some think pork is white meat - i don't). As for ant-inflammatory I'm sure some gentle research will tell you the best. I know berries are good, but there are many more. Of course I also take certain supplements which are natural anti-inflammatory as well ... it saves me having to take things like Ibu-profen which effect our kidneys over time. Email me if you wish to know more about what I do for myself. Steve Inflammation Diet Hi all, Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday and all.
