Guest guest
Hello gang, I'm Leah and I'm new here. :-) I'm so happy to start down the trail of wheatgrass as I've been sprouting for a while now. So...I've just harvested my first wheatgrass and lo and behold at the base of the grass in the dirt area is mold. Some looks dark green and condensed the other is kind of spiderweb like and white colored. I did use organic dirt and Azomite as a fertelizer. I watered daily once the grass grew tall and was uncovered. I do live in Florida however I did grow it indoors with A/C. Not that it doesn't get a little humid in the home but certainly nothing like outside. So what can I do to prevent this in my next batch? I've read some stuff online but would love to hear from someone here that has dealt with this issue before. Thank you! Guest guest
Leah -- mold happens sometimes, but you can still harvest the batch of wheatgrass. I just cut well above the mold area. Mold is usually due to overwatering or poor air circulation. It may be helpful to have a small fan going in the area you are doing the wheatgrass. You can also spray the soil area with diluted hydrogen peroxide. terry > > Hello gang, > I'm Leah and I'm new here. :-) > I'm so happy to start down the trail of wheatgrass as I've been sprouting for a while now.
