Guest guest
Kim: We have used OLE along with Berberine for one of our son's who has Asperger's and high strep titers with noticeable improvement within a month. He only had a few days of odd stools and eratic behavior. On the first day of school last week, his teacher e:mailed us and asked if we had been doing something with him, as she noticed the improvement. We've started the protocol with our ASD son who was also just diagnosed with PANDAS due to extremely high strep titers. He is not tolerating the protocol as well. We will keep at it, just maybe a little slower. We didn't use any charcoal with our other son. We've already used it a few times with our ASD/PANDAS son. He also takes a parade of other supplements too. Anyhow, it seems to be worth it for now. Guest guest
Nickie, Re. the OLE and Berberine, what are you seeing in your son that leads you to believe that he is not tolerating the protocol well? I'm curious because I didn't feel my oldest tolerated OLE very well either but now I'm thinking he probably needed charcoal as well. Guest guest
Thanks to Nickie and all for replying to my post. Nickie - I am using NOW OLE (18%) glycerite. My youngest is 30 lbs and I figured her maximum dosage would be approx 8 drops. What dosage of OLE did you give your child? So glad to hear your child made progress, and so gratifying when school officials notice that progress!!! :-) Yes, we take a parade of supps as well. I am treating two with Yasko and just starting my 8 month old baby for preventative purposes. Kim
Guest guest
Dana: mostly behaviors such as screaming, hitting himself in the head when frustrated, extra stimming, etc. We are still doing it, so we'll see if it evens out. The charcoal seems to help but I try not to give it to him every time we do the protocol. Our DAN said to also give magnesium citrate near the charcoal to prevent constipation, so sometimes we give that too. Guest guest
Kim: We use capsules, as both now swallow pills. They each get one cap. at 500 mg. each. Our oldest son weighs around 67lbs. and our middle son weighs around 50 lbs. If we get the protocol in twice a day, then they each get 1000 mg. a day. It sounds like a lot now that I'm typing it but our DAN told us the dosage and it seems to be working at least on our oldest, so I guess we'll stick with it for a while with him anyhow. We don't use it on our three year old yet, but have considered bio med as preventative for him too. Now we really only give him probiotics every now and then. What is the mg. in each drop of the liquid form of OLE? Guest guest
Nickie: Our OLE says 1.6 mL is an adult serving (2 droppersful) which is 200 mg of OLE at 18% strength. My daughter is 30 lbs so I figured her max dosage to be 8 drops. This is nowhere near the 500 mg suggested for your kids but I guess they are heavier. I'll have to see if anything happens for my daughter at the dose I have figured and if not then I'll increase it. Thanks for the reply!
