Guest guest
hello: This is a tangent from original discussion. My OPINION is that not all placebos are harmful. I wear copper and hematite jewelery because of both metals' association in folklore with helping people who have been diagnosed with arthritis. Folklore also mentions copper to be helpful for muscles and ligaments. the Doctor who diagnosed my arthritis asked me if wearing copper helped, I said yes, she said 'even if wearing copper is just having a placebo effect for you, that's OK' (Ialos exercise as prescribed by a physiotherapist)\ please note: I am not saying ALL placebo's are OK. renaissanzelady > > Subject: Re: [FAMFamilyForum] Detox product claims are 'legalized lying,' scientists warn consumers > To: FAMFamilyForum , " famsecretsociety " <FAMSecretSociety > > Received: Friday, January 9, 2009, 8:21 PM > " pla·ce·bo > Pronunciation: > \plÉ™-ˈsÄ“-(ËŒ)bÅ\ > Function: > noun > Inflected Form(s): > plural pla·ce·bos > Etymology: > Latin, I shall please > Date: > 1785 > > 1 a: a usually pharmacologically inert preparation > prescribed more for > the mental relief of the patient than for its actual effect > on a > disorder b: an inert or innocuous substance used especially > in > controlled experiments testing the efficacy of another > substance (as a > drug) " > > Verbatim from Merriam-Webster. __________________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
