Guest guest
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/AutismTreatment/story?id=5387746 What Is Chelation Therapy, And Will It Help My Child With Autism? Stefani Hines, M.D., Developmental - Behavioral Pediatrician, Beaumont Hospital's Center for Human Development Oct. 23, 2008 Question: What is chelation therapy, and will it help my child with autism? Answer: Chelation therapy is a detoxification therapy and it's based on the unproven theory that mercury and other heavy metals can cause central nervous system damage and neurodevelopmental disabilities such as autism. Chelators are agents that bind to, remove and extract heavy metals from the body. But there's no evidence at all that chelation therapy is effective and in fact may be dangerous. Several years ago a child died of IV chelation therapy.

Several years ago a > child died of IV chelation therapy. > I woul;d like to add that many chelators are agressive. all bind with metals, bot needed and unneeded. Zinc for instance will be depleated as well as iron. It is not something to be taken lightly, this therapy was developed to remove arsnic poisioning, as well as other live threatening exposure to toxic metals. So if you were exposed to the fallout of a nuclear blast or as a reactor worker. It is very dangerous, requires constant maintenance and should not be done without serious reason, and MD care. Not a parent " alternative therapy " highly dangerous
